From the start, in the odd, dated, mishmash lobby ala "The Shining" comes to Miami, with the front desk associate simply greeting us with an annoyed, "Yes?", the National Hotel just kept serving 3 star at 4 star prices. Room (Cabana Pool View) was basic and worn, definitely did not feel four star.
Balcony was sparse and uninviting. Bathroom had gym style soap dispensers with subpar apothecaries. No "special" touches. A Nespresso machine a plus. Soft towels. Good bed and linens. Text based service was solid and affable.
Husband went to the "fitness center", we've seen Hampton Inn fitness rooms that are better equipped.
Overall, just off and lacking detail - eg: dirty dishes sat on a table off the elevator for 12 hours.
The hotel is about the pool, nice, but attendants generally grumpy until engaged (surprised to be asked how they are...?) - that said, Miami is ranked as the 3rd rudest city in the World. The beach, solid service with chairs, umbrellas, wait staff. Location is good for South Beach shenanigans.
We made it a nice time, but the place never felt special - it consistently lacks details. Many of the hotels in the area are under construction - that started promptly at 8 am each day.
Update...just saw we had the breakfast package - zero mention of anything relating to breakfast during our non-plussed check-in.
Nice pool and beach...but sour property as a whole.

This is our second time staying at this hotel and we were sad to see how downhill the service has gone. First, the pros: the outside pool area is gorgeous and very relaxing (minus the construction noises next door), the breakfast and lunch food is delicious (we didn’t try dinner), the rooms are comfortable and a good size. Now, the cons: we interacted with the front desk staff twice - at check in and at check out. Both times the staff were incredibly rude to us for no reason. When we asked a question about the bill the staff person immediately raised her voice at us and talked down to us like we were idiots. The service at the pool, beach, and breakfast were okay, but they weren’t nearly as attentive or friendly as they were the last time we were here. There was a fruit tray for us in the room after check in which was a nice touch but after sitting there for a few days it grew mold and had fruit flies on it. Housekeeping came each day but never removed it which we thought was strange. They also thought Friday night was a good time to test the fire alarm and shut down the elevators. My elderly mother had to climb up 8 flights of stairs because of this. When we asked the front desk person when the elevators would be back on she said she had no idea. Overall we’re not sure if we’ll be back or not, for the price of this hotel I’d expect much friendlier service.

I stayed here after a cruise to get some R&R and it didn’t disappoint.
My sister in law and I got in at 9am before our room was ready and we were able to store our luggage, change into swim suits, and enjoy the pools. Front desk was very nice and pool service was very hospitable and luxurious. Only downside was that we couldn’t get back into the pool area after going to the beach bc we didn’t have a keycard and the beach was littered with seaweed.
We got an upgraded suite around noon. Pictures speak for themselves it was so nice. We enjoyed a day and night by the pool with our new iguana friends before catching our flight home.

Wonderful hotel in a fantastic location right on Collins Avenue with direct access to South Beach. It’s officially a 4-star, but the exceptional staff made it feel more like a 5-star experience. Their friendliness and attentiveness stood out even more than the room itself, which was comfortable but nothing extraordinary.
The hotel has two pools, one of which is among the longest in Miami Beach, connected to a smaller, cozy area filled with beach beds and a bar serving food and drinks. For the best beach beds by the small pool, try getting there before 10 am, though spots were usually still available a bit later. The staff sets up your sunbed nicely with fresh towels.
They also provide beach beds with umbrellas included. However, there was a bit of confusion since the beach staff kept mentioning a $30 umbrella fee, even though the hotel actually covers this cost, it’d be helpful if they clarified this better. Another minor issue was the shortage of beach towels on both days we visited.
We stayed in a Cabana room that opened directly onto the long pool, featuring a small terrace which we really enjoyed. Plus, they brought coffee and water to our room daily.
All in all, we had a lovely stay and would definitely come back!

Our stay at the National Hotel has been wonderful. Everyone is so attentive and helpful. On the beach, Elijah and Conner are so welcoming and helpful with anything we need, always friendly and willing to help.
The servers in the bar area are wonderful as well, again always friendly and smiling making you feel at home. The beach is also very clean, no garbage or seaweed, it is very well maintained. I would definitely stay at the National the next time we are in Miami.

We were very pleased with our stay last weekend. The service was friendly, fast, accommodating and overall top notch. The service on the beach was also very attentive, although the food was on the low side. We weren't impressed with the quality of their food, but the cocktails more than made up for it. Great view, clean rooms and eclectic decor. Loved the adults only beach.

Hotel is in a good location with restaurants, bars, convenience stores, liquor stores, etc. All within walking distance. The hotel seems well kept and has direct beach access. The property has a restaurant and multiple bars. We stayed in a cabana room overlooking the pool with a side view of the ocean and would stay here again.

Overpriced party hotel. Get a room high up for less outside noise.

I just have dinner at the Restaurant. It was a relaxing atmosphere with a great tasting, fresh, well presented food. The prices were reasonable. Among the different choices of plates, there is a dinner menu for $39 with a starter, a entre, and a desert (for each selection you can choose between 3 different plates) I love the decoration, lights, and view in the terrace. It also offered live music.

Overall, a decent "vintage" experience. It's in a great central location with plenty of dining options close by.
Positives:
-Staff was friendly and helpful
-pool area was well kept
-beach front was clean
Negatives:
- no bathroom fans. Not great for showering, or other bathroom functions.
- toilet paper so thin you can see through it. We had to purchase our own.
- no bed sheet, just the fitted sheet and a comforter.
- overpowering cologne smell in lobby (nice fragrance, bu way too much!)
