Every detail about this hotel is amazing and beautifully appointed. Excellent service! The location of this hotel is prime for local site seeing, dining and shopping, plus it is right across the street from the White House. Simply gorgeous! The speak easy on the bottom floor was a great place for drinks and small bites! Highly recommend and I cannot wait to go back!

The menu was surprisingly outdated, so
there wasn’t anything to legitimately look forward to. Considering the price range and esteemed reputation this establishment has, you would think that they’re capable of serving food without a side of bugs. Large gnats landing in your food and beverages should be normal in a dingy McDonalds, not the Lafayette. Needless to say, we were incredibly disappointed with the dull menu and annoying bugs so we’re unlikely to return. I have only dined in the restaurant so I can’t speak on the hotel itself. The restaurant is a beautiful historical location, but there’s plenty of other establishments in DC that are worth the money. Service was fine, but there were several large gnats flying around. It was very distracting trying to enjoy a meal while swatting insects away.

This is a fairly nice hotel but offers basically no amenities and is very expensive for what it is. It has a tiny lobby and small restaurant. There is a basement bar as well. It seems to be 2-3 times the price of the Willard and other comparable hotels. I was booked for 3 nights but after a few hours there I asked the front desk if I could check out early. They didn’t ask why but said yes that’s fine. The next day I moved to the Willard where the room is much bigger and more comfortable. The price is less than half even last minute. I also price checked the Sofitel and St Regis and it is much more than those. Not a bad spot just not great service or rooms.

Words cannot describe how amazing our experience was. We stayed here our wedding weekend, and while our wedding was elsewhere, the Hay Adams team made our weekend above and beyond special. In addition to amazing service, their team accommodated our request for taking pictures on the roof and they even surprised us with a personalized card and complimentary bottle of champagne. I would recommend this hotel to any and everyone!

Literally the most superb service I’ve received in all of Washington. We usually stay at the St. Regis, but decided to make a change. Every person we’ve come in contact with; from the front desk, to the restaurant, to room service, concierge, honestly everyone is exceptional.
I highly recommend Brian at the concierge desk, he has the greatest restaurant recommendations and connections within the city if you need to get last-minute tickets to any of the museums.
Literally felt 5- star through the entire experience! The rooms are quaint and quite luxurious given the age and size of the hotel. There isn’t a single detail unnoticed.

I made reservations here for a quick anniversary get away with my wife. From the time that we arrived, the staff could not do enough to make our stay wonderful. We were provided a refrigerator in our room so that my wife could store milk (she is pumping for our 7 month old). In addition, upon learning the reason for our stay, we were surprised with a wonderful note from the hotel accompanying two glasses of champagne, fruit and chocolates. In addition, the room and accommodations were beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

I love this hotel. Whenever I am in D.C., I stay here. While the front desk/reception staff change frequently, the restaurant staff has been the same for years. Whenever we visit, the staff is so friendly to us. Everyone that recognizes is walk over to outer table, ask how we're doing and whether we need anything, even if it's not their section. On our birthdays, they even have made special birthday cakes. The staff even remember our orders, as were are very predictable. The rooms are spacious and generally clean. While I would admit some of the rooms need a little updating, it is generally ok. They give us the same room, same floor all the time, which we love. They remember our preferences like a tea/coffee station and we always get a welcome present. On the occasions where something is amiss, the general manager Hans bruland always makes it right. The staff at the concierge, parking and front door generally stay the same and they are so friendly. They recognize us immediately and say welcome back. They give us waters for the walk, umbrellas, cold towels, whatever we need. One time we were walking back to the hotel and were a bit turned around. One of the employees happened to be going home and stopped asking if we needed a ride back to the hotel. That was the most amazing thing. If I could give this 10 stars, I would.

Whenever I am in DC I make a point of having lunch or brunch here. The dining room is beautiful, the service is flawless and the food is delicious. It is also quiet enough that diners can enjoy an intelligent conversation.

Get the steak. The wine selection is also nice (I had the Malbec). Great atmosphere and you can bring people here to impress them without a bill that's too big. Plus, you never know who you will see in here. Overall, a good choice!

We were fortunate enough to have our wedding at the Top of the Hay at the Hay-Adams hotel. The view completely speaks for itself and you’d be hard pressed to find a better wedding venue in DC. But the true quality of the Hay-Adams extends well beyond the view. The staff is knowledgeable and communicative and are more than happy to tailor to all of your specific needs, as a bride planning her wedding from abroad I couldn’t have asked for a better team. There was a wide variety of meals options to choose from and was perfectly prepared.
