Star G Hotel Premium Altmarkt in Dresden

Nice location right by the Dresden Christmas Market. Booked this hotel and paid higher price to get the room with the Christmas Market view and sent in a special request for this room. However, during check-in, they told that everyone is requesting the same room and they cannot give me this room with the Christmas Market view. They specifically mentioned there would be bottled water in the room but there’s absolutely nothing in the room. It was raining during my check-out. Unfortunately, Uber and bolt are not working in Dresden. I asked them to call a taxi during the checkout. They asked me to wait across the street for the taxi and I was waiting there in the rain for twenty minutes for the taxi

The front desk doesn’t do their job. I emailed in September to check the room that I made reservations had the Christmas market view.
I emailed with my confirmation number and explained about the importance of the room with the view.

This is what they wrote back to my email.
‘We are happy to inform your that your request has been added to your reservation.

Depending on availability we will do our best to fulfill this request. However please be aware that this request can not be guaranteed.’

The truth is that only rooms that are available for the views are suites and single room with double beds. I have no problem to pay MORE for suites. This is a life time experience to visit Germany to see the market for me. Maybe Christmas market is always there for them but not for me and my family. I live in the US and my family came from Asia for family reunion. Money is not a problem. If they informed me earlier I would be able to make reservations for suites.

At the check in, they said family rooms are not with the view at all. This is an evidence that they do NOT even check the confirmation number that I included. The hotel should have let me know about this earlier. So I can amend my reservation.

I strongly recommend to go to the 4 star review right next door.

And the huge dust I found under the blanket on the bed. Great.

AC settings don't work so you're stuck with whatever default temperature they've set up. Found cobwebs in the room.

Location is pretty good, hotel within walking distance of most attractions.
