Great hotel. The breakfast was super. Despite the fact that we are usually not big meat ball fans we absolutely loved them there. Also worth mentioning is the great selection of cheeses. Well. Let say we have been to several Van der valk hotels, and this one is not so good for us. The room was fine with balcony except it was not safe if you wanted to have the door open. Plus, smokers-was allowed on the balcony.

The rooms were very big and beautiful, but the bed for the kids was very uncomfortable and noisy. The breakfast buffet was amazing, there were so many things to choose of and it was super delicious. With the check-in we had some problems because we couldn't open the door with our cards. There is a hot steam bath but it only opens from 3 p.m. which is a bit late.

In general the stay was better than expected. Just two details: actually the location is not in active zone of the city, and the rooms vere much too hot for us Finns. As said, everything else was just marvellous.

The rooms (at least the suites) are big and have all necessary amenities like a kettle, fridge, tresor, tv and balcony. The location is ideal if you are traveling by public transportation and have business on the Gruga Location/ Messe Essen. The only negative is, that there are some but not a lot of parking spaces that belong to the hotel.

The hotel is a short metro ride away from essen. Unfortunately this stops at 23.00hrs so its a taxi or walk 45 minutes to get back. The area has good facilities with several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and room we had was ideal for our needs. Clean and tidy with a small kitchen area and a balcony. Excellent value for money.

The whirlpool tub in the Deluxe Suite is perfect for relaxing. The fully equipped kitchen and large TV in the living room area are also perfect for longer stays. Even though we were the only guests in the hotel, we were treated to a small breakfast buffet just for ourselves :) Check-in and check-out were very relaxed and easy using a combination lock. Very good, only parking problem

I decided to stay here for a better individual experience rather than the large generic hotel nearby. It proved to be the right decision, I had a bigger room with better facilties and a more personal service.
