Great hotel. The breakfast was super. Despite the fact that we are usually not big meat ball fans we absolutely loved them there. Also worth mentioning is the great selection of cheeses. The room we had was perfect for a family of 5 (which can be a challenge). Staff was very friendly (especially to our kids). The location is great for visiting the huge Christmas market

Stayed there for only 12 hours because my flight got cancelled. It was a nice hotel near a plaza with lots of restaurants and other shops. The room was clean and well furnished.

We were pleasantly surprised, about everything. The friendliness of the staff. The design, the location, the restaurant where you could enjoy Italian cuisine in peace and quiet, for decent prices. Home away from home Eurohof is our go-to hotel when visiting family and friends in Duisburg. Clean, quiet room, excellent restaurant, ample parking. Located in a scenic rural “bubble” amidst the industrial area of the Rhein River.

Very nice and quiet hotel at the banks of the river Ruhr. Make sure you get a riverside room! Also the breakfast was good and the river terrace in the morning sun made it something to remember (and write about). The Sauna is not the newest, but it is a sauna both a view on the Ruhr and the green banks on the other side. Quite central, spacious room, great breakfast, clean. Reception not always staffed, but received instructions and access code for entry to hotel and you can take keys from reception.

You should expect a regular Mercure Hotel. Nothing too fancy but serving its purpose. I booked accommodation and car parking for 14 days. The price value was extremely good. Regardless I didn’t expect the taxi costs to the airport (10-15 mins) to be between 40-50€ per way. Could have booked the DUS airport parking instead for less money. But my fault in doing enough research.

Great value for money. We got a family room with good space and very comfortable beds. Breakfast room was light, airy and with a green planted terrace. We enjoyed our continental breakfast. Staff members were very friendly and polite. Parking is right by the hotel.

The hotel is in a really nice, quiet forest location, which made it very peaceful and relaxing. The surroundings were definitely the highlight of the stay. However, the rooms were quite old and outdated, and unfortunately not very clean. The sink in our room was also broken, which was disappointing. Overall, a lovely location, but the rooms could really benefit from better maintenance and updates.

It was a bit confusing where to park. All outside spaces where taken and no sings to direct for underground parking. You could also put more signs in the underground parking to direct guests towards hotel entrance. It's a shame there is no EV charging points especially there is underground parking. We had room 143. The safe was broken, the air conditioning didn't work on a very hot weekend. The shower water took ages to drain away. The maid just knocked & came in even though we had a do not disturb sign on the door. Its out in the middle of no where, so not very convenient for anything apart from the golf course next door. very good, old fashion school hotel. yet, all the facilities have been upgraded to meet today's regulatory requirements. I enjoyed water based heating radiators in the room. Many other hotels these days opted to install efficient ventilation systems that blow a dry hot air. The old heating system is much better if compared with that one of this new technology. It makes a guest feel home.

Honestly I was expecting better but as I decided to lay down I realized the bed was dirty. There was someones hair in it and the pillow was dirty as well. The shower had no shower gel so I assume they either don't provide or someone stole it. Who knows ... The restaurants were all closed except for one.

The Van Der Valk hotel is absolutely stunning inside, the rooms are very spacious and comfortable. I didnt use the Restaurant so i cannot advise on that but thr Bar is comfortable ,but service can be slow when busy ,only to be expected. Overall i highly rate it

More than anything I liked the King size bed and mattress and the bathroom , equality materials and hot water at all times. It should be considered having kettles in the hotel rooms.

Booked 1 night for a trade fair visit in Essen, a fifteen minute drive away. Great hotel, nice clean rooms, good bed and TV with Dutch channels Excellent breakfast with a choice between continental and English breakfast. Free parking spaces Much cheaper than comparable hotels in Essen during the fair periods.

Overall, the stay was good. Service was very friendly and nice. Location was great because there were buses and trains right outside the hotel. For me personally, the bed was hard and uncomfortable and the room was very dusty.

The receptionists were very helpful. I was able to take a leisurely bath. The breakfast was delicious. I was able to walk to the airport, so the location was good. No problems.

Beautiful location, very functional for congress or other business meetings. The rooms are huge and clean. The breakfast has a wide range of options. Even for lunch and dinner there were vegan options, although the steak was delicious. Near the hotel there is an incredible park with wildlife and hiking areas.

The location is excellent. The room is large and well-equipped. The only drawback is that the sound insulation is not very good. I was woken up by the sound of the door closing next door in the morning and the floor felt a little shaken.

The rooms (at least the suites) are big and have all necessary amenities like a kettle, fridge, tresor, tv and balcony. The location is ideal if you are traveling by public transportation and have business on the Gruga Location/ Messe Essen. The only negative is, that there are some but not a lot of parking spaces that belong to the hotel.

The hotel is a short metro ride away from essen. Unfortunately this stops at 23.00hrs so its a taxi or walk 45 minutes to get back. The area has good facilities with several pubs and restaurants within walking distance. The staff at the hotel are brilliant and room we had was ideal for our needs. Clean and tidy with a small kitchen area and a balcony. Excellent value for money.

The room is super big. Although it was built in 2000, it doesn't feel old at all. It is clean and tidy, and has a capsule coffee machine. Essen has a large green area, so the air in the whole city is very comfortable. It is convenient to check in and the service attitude is very good.
