Moxy Cologne Bonn Airport Hotel

I originally wrote a review on the morning of my departure whilst sat in the airport, but deleted it as I was conscious that I was still annoyed from my experience. However, having reflected, it was totally accurate. If you are looking for a conveniently located airport but plan to get next to no sleep at all, this is the place to go. If, however, you are looking for a good night of sleep in a hotel which advertises its rooms as being sound-proof, this is NOT the place to go. From start to finish: the check in agent was confident that I had not paid for my stay, which I had. That was resolved. I made a request for a quiet room; I was given room 222 on the second floor. Whilst the rooms are "cool" and look very fancy, they are put together for the purposes of aesthetics and nothing more. The lighting in the room clicks on and off at its own convenience; the sliding bathroom door (in this room) has been installed incorrectly therefore slides open at random times. The shower enclosure is not enclosed, and the bathroom floods when you shower and stand even more than a few inches away from the wall. This is even the case when the shower is on the eco water flow setting. The door frame and wall in close proximity to the shower enclosure will swell very shortly, I am sure of it. The mattress is akin to the make-up of the ceiling - concrete. However the pillows are more than comfortable. I was woken up by my room neighbour at approx 2300hrs, then again at 0030hrs. This is despite the rooms being very clearly advertised as soundproof. I was then woken up in the morning, not by my own alarm, but by my room neighbour's alarm on their mobile phone. How can this be possible in sound proof rooms? The breakfast left a lot to be desired. The staff didn't know the cost, first of all, then when I eventually paid 17 euros for the breakfast, I was presented with sub-par offerings. Initially unidentifiable meat in a broiler, rubber eggs, stone eggs - sorry, hard boiled eggs - some cheese, some hilariously stale bread, reasonable coffee, and juice that was so weak that it could not beat a toddler in an arm wrestle. The look of this hotel is great. The location of this hotel is great. The fact that you can watch planes from the terrace is great. The actual hotel itself - awful.
