Savoy Hotel Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main

We were very disappointed with our stay. We stayed here a few years back and spoke highly of the hotel and even made recommendation to our travelers on social media. We never though twice about booking for this trip.
From the moment we arrived, this visit was completely different. The front desk staff were curt and not very helpful. We walked upstairs to find that our room was still being cleaned, and needing to quickly return our rental car, asked if we could get another room to store our luggage. There was response was "that is the only room we have." Since this appeared to be the end of the conversation, we returned to our room, dropped our luggage on the bed while the room was still being cleaned, and hoped that the room did not still smell like body odor upon our return.
When we came back to our room and had a chance to look at it, we noticed that it was dirty. Not dusty and needing housekeeping, but needing serious deep cleaning. The carpet had several questionable stains, as did the chair. The shower had mildew in the grout and would not drain. The towels were stained, threadbare, and abrasive enough to leave your skin red. When it came time to call it a night and watch some television, we found that only 4 or 5 of the channels worked with the remaining having been blocked by the provider.
The location and the breakfast were the only redeeming qualities. Being across from the main train station is convenient and the proximity to old town makes visiting Christmas Markets easy.

This hotel should be considered as a 3-star hotel not the usual 4-star hotel. The room is dirty and old dated. Bathroom is not clean. Only the location is great because it is near the train station

Disappointing Experience – Would Not Recommend

I had a very disappointing stay, mainly due to the hotel’s surrounding neighborhood. As a woman traveling alone, I felt unsafe—there were people openly using drugs and injecting themselves right near the hotel entrance, which was extremely unsettling. I had to book something quickly due to a flight cancellation, and unfortunately, this hotel turned out to be a poor choice.

What surprised me most is that the hotel has a rating of 8 on Booking.com. I honestly don’t know how it earned that score. After my experience, I checked the reviews on Google, and they painted a much more accurate and concerning picture.

The hotel itself felt far from a 4-star standard. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor, the carpets were stained, the towels smelled bad, and the room was incredibly hot. It felt like a sauna, and to make matters worse, the air conditioning was broken. One of the lamps was also not working.

Breakfast was well below average—not at all what you'd expect for the price or the star rating.

The only redeeming factor was the staff, who were somewhat friendly. But unfortunately, that alone couldn’t make up for the overall poor experience.
