Radisson Blu Hotel Schwarzer Bock Wiesbaden

Location, location, location... and Schwarzer Bock has oodles of it! It may be one of the old great hotels, or -rather- it probably was. It all feels a bit dated now. The room was clean enough, but could do with an upgrade. There's the normal amenities (coffee, bottled water, safe) and soap/shampoo in the bathroom. Breakfast was very decent, with the possibility of sitting outside in the courtyard on warm mornings. Service was good (unless you catch the reception staff on a smoke-break, in which case you may need to wait a couple of minutes!). Didn't try the spa (as was told there was an extra charge, now that it's not technically owned by the hotel) nor the bar (was already well entrenched elsewhere by 6pm when it opened!). All in all a decent enough hotel but 4 stars? Not so sure...

This place was awesome in every way. Location was ideal and the workers were super nice!!! Def will suggest this! Room was nice and clean. Room service cleaned consistently .

Schwarzer Bock is named after the founder whose last name was Bock and who had pitch black hair. It's the oldest hotel in Europe (so the reception told me) built in 1486.

It's quaint. Almost has a boutique feel. All the marble in the entryway is original. 600 years old. They have two original stairwells. One marble and one wooden. Even if you aren't staying here it's worth a visit for the history and architecture.

The bar is nice. Beautiful decor. Good selection of boozes.

Our room was nice. Modern bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash available in shower out of those common, large bottles. Towels rate a 3 of 5 on plushness.

Lots of eating opportunities within walking distance. Close to hurhaus, casino, and other sites. Great public transportation.

Parking is not great. There are about five spots in front of the hotel. Great if you fetch one. They havr an arrangement for parking at the kurhaus, about three blocks away. Drop luggage first and the drive there for the short walk back.

Overall quite pleased with the place. Floors creak, but I think that adds to the charm of a 600 year old building.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Its location was close to the square. Rooms were nice and quiet. The beds were quite firm, but ok. Prices were reasonable. The hotel offered a breakfast buffet, but we felt it was a bit high. They provided bottled water in the rooms, both natural and frizzanty. There is a refrigerator, instant hot water pot. With instant coffee and different tea's provided. I recommend giving this hotel a try.

The location was fabulous. Near the shops, museum & only a short walk to main station. The rooms were very spacious & clean. Some of Reception staff need some training. Some were good. Others not friendly & abrupt at times. ( shame)
Beware if you go into the bar. As no prices shown. €17 for a vodka & tonic. That’s higher than London prices were I live. The breakfast was good. But could do with changing items daily. As it was the same mix everyday. But I would stay here again.
