Very well placed hotel in the old part of town. Lovely rooms, well appointed and clean. Checkin efficient and lovely staff. Breakfast well worth the 10 euros with hot and cold, fresh juices, coffee including decaffeinated and teas. Fresh pastries also. The roof terrace and complimentary sangria definitely worth a visit. They actually DO have parking a few yards from the hotel, €18 a night but you must book direct with hotel as only 3 spaces!!

I lost a draft review so will be more concise - it is a very positive review. We booked the hotel for a night at the end of stay due to an earlyish flight making it inconvenient to travel from our accommodation near Villajoyosa. We like this area of the city centre and it is fairly near the Mercado tram stop (downhill walk through some crowded streets) and near the front for the C6 airport bus. From first arrival with a friendly welcome from Jessica, a pleasant room with a tiny view of the castle, and the great location, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again for a night or two in Alicante. My wife wrote: "The staff were really friendly. We were upgraded and the free Sangria in the roof top bar and glass of sparkling/chocolate in room was a generous touch. Significantly exceeded expectations for somewhere booked to stay before going to the airport!" Obviously not everyone might get upgraded or get free drinks but the freshly made Sangria by Giullermo was very good and the rooftop bar is a real almost hidden gem - worth visiting to have a drink there with view over the Cathedral roof or at one side into the bustling street below. There is a large variety of bars and restaurants nearby and ice cream shops, plus not far from the Town Hall square, the promenade with avenue of palm trees and the beach.

Perfect stay, staff was very helpfull and kind and spoke great english. Would absolutely recommend this to a friend and stay here again!

We spent seven days in this lovely boutique hotel. Guests staying here can expect tiny but uniquely styled romantic rooms. Located in the heart of the city, it's just a few minutes walk to any attraction. The staff was always helpful 24/7, their suggestions made it easy to plan a holiday. Special thanks here to Guillermo for his special attention (once he called a restaurant 14 times just to book a table for us!). I would like to highlight the good quality of the breakfast pastries which make it worth eating here. The street noises that others have described do filter in, but I have to say that by the time you discover Alicante you will be so tired you won't even notice.

I only stayed at Les Monges for one night but it was an amazing experience. The hotel is beautifully decorated, it has a very unique historical atmosphere and the location is just absolutely perfect. Near the marina, near the castle and in the middle of the historical center.

But what to me stood out mostly was how the staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome and comfortable.

A big compliment to Guillermo who did his utmost best to find out where I could enjoy some good food and traditional music that night. I will come back!

Perfect location at the most nice little square with many restaurants in the old town. Nice personal and nice clean rooms, but no balconies. Breakfast is however mimimalistic.

Nice place to stay in the heart of Alicante. Stayed on street level however the double glazing kept noise to a minimum.

I don't understand how hotel stars are awarded. This hotel is great and gets way more than 2 in my book!

A very nice and quiet hotel in the Center of Alicante. Close to the sea. I liked the old atmosphere of the building very much.(a former cloister.) better then the modern hotel I had before.
The owner Pedro speaks fluently English and helped out with everything: first I had a very small room: he gave a bigger room for the same price, (very cheap! Compared to the hotel I had before) and had a lot of tips for restaurants etc. He even helped me out with online booking a train, which is very complicated..
The breakfast bread was better then in the big hotel I had before!
Beautiful terrace with outlook on the Santa Barbara castle and a church.
Tip: Only don’t forget to give the key every time y leave the building.. (I forgot it twice..,)
