High-rise hotel located on Avenida Diagonal, a bit far from city centre, on the way to the resort towns of the Costa Brava, close to the metro station and in walking distance from the beach. The rooms have a panoramic view of the city and the coast. One of the outdoor pools with sunbathing area is arranged on the 22nd floor. Nearby is a large shopping center. Can be recommended for demanding tourists.
Built: 2004 at the avant-garde style.
Location: in the centre of Barcelona, 16 km from Barcelona airport, 95 km from Girona airport, 105 km from Reus airport, one of the Central avenues of the city, 50 m from the ultra-modern Congress centre, 500 m from the beach, near the new district, completely rebuilt to host the world forum in 2004, and in close proximity to the largest shopping complex in Barcelona.

One night I wanted room service as I didn’t feel like eating out and it was a real hassle to get my food. Ended up having to go down to reception who then sent me back up to the 3rd floor to order my food directly with restaurant staff as no one was answering the phone. Food wasn’t great either after all that.
They talked very badly to me when I wanted to take some two poor little donuts with me as I couldn’t eat it all in one and still wanted to make this cost worth it.
I paid for this so could they leave me alone ?! Maybe it’s not in their rules but they don’t know if the person has a physical issue and cannot eat it all. We pay, we are guests we are allowed to eat the buffet as we want and if I can’t finish I rather take it with me than throwing it in the garbage.
I also have to add that they shouldn’t speak too much as some of their gluten free croissant were rotten !!
As for the room service, the food was not worth the price at all 21€ for a very small amount of veggies and a frozen fish… I feel a bit scammed.
Only the receptionist at my checkin was nice.
The rooms were extremely clean meanwhile I think that’s the best point of the place. I would stay there again if I don’t deal with the « food team » at all.
The location is quite nice: close to the beach and next to the mall.
Just one thing which I found weird: I asked for some cutlery like spoons, plates etc in my room, and they charge 3 euros per piece which is a bit too much.
The rooms were clean and the bar and pool at the 22nd floor was the best. The breakfast Menu was tasty and had great variety. Even the experience of sitting with a roadside view in the sunny morning during breakfast was blissful.
Now the reason it did not work out for me
1. First was the experience, some of the members at reception looked out of patience and I did not have a great time conversing/calling them. I don't want to point at a specific individual, hence will refrain from going in detail. 2. They charged EUR 4 as a tourist tax which was not informed before. I don't know how other hotels manage (I have stayed in 2 more hotels in Barcelona before and they did not charge us this amount) and reception was not helpful in convincing me on this charge.
3. Lastly everything is paid in this hotel, They don't have a kettle in the room and if you ask for basic things like a spoon or hot water it will come at a price, even weighing your luggage will cost us 1 EUR. I have stayed in other big hotels but this was not the case, the kettle will not be included but can be requested and basic room service like weight machine and utensils are free to avail! It gave us a feeling like they would rather earn money than people!
Edit - Thank you for taking time in replying to each of the issues listed. I will be looking forward to the changes, will definitely give it a try next time I am in Barcelona!
