Holiday Inn Express Malaga Airport, an IHG Hotel

The hotel is quite tricky to walk too, easier at night when there is less traffic. Approx 20 mins walk. Taxi ride takes 5 minutes but expensive at 16 Euros. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean and relatively quiet. The food in the restaurant area is quite limited and pretty poor in quality. I had a chicken Ceasar Salad (pictured), I couldn't eat it! The chicken was reformed..like cheap chicken nuggets. I don't like to moan about food but if you advertise a Ceasar Salad, it needs to be one. If they improved the menu and quality, I'd be tempted to give a higher rating. Breakfast was OK.

We were waiting for a flight from UK to pick up family and stopped for a meal. I regret to say it was completely inedible, my wife's pasta was cold, so they put it in a microwave to warm it up, it just dried it out. I had some sort of extremely skinny chips that went stone cold before I could eat them, they were so thin they couldn't hold whatever heat they had. The service was fast and efficient but the food was just poor and definitely not worth the cost. We saw other families even leaving pizzas (the kids mostly) so we have to assume these were not up to acceptable standard either. My wife has stayed at the hotel when travelling to and had said she has no complaints about the rooms but I never have so cannot comment from personal experience. The positioning of the hotel is not great for getting to from the airport without risking a dark and messy walk through a rubbish strewn car park but is cheap enough to use a taxi or car to the airport. When I say cheap enough, only in relation to Málaga prices, in our town a taxi only costs €5 for any trip. Overall I have to recommend it as it's pretty much lacking competition but cannot in all honesty say it's good. Quick edit the coffee at the bar is great, the one served with the meal from the machine is undrinkable.
