BG Pamplona Hotel

During my stay at Hotel BG Pamplona, I seriously questioned its 4-star rating. The reception staff were rather cold and unwelcoming, although I appreciated that they allowed me to store my luggage until check-in.

One major downside was the city tax, which I had already paid online but was required to pay again upon arrival. This seemed very disorganized and strange to me.

The rooms are clean but small and rather bland, resembling a hospital room with mostly white and gray tones. The bed covers are thin like sheets, the pillows are acceptable, but the decorative pillow looks extremely cheap. The mattress was too hard for my taste.

The bathroom, like the rest of the room, was very clean but just as uninspired in design.

There was no kettle with instant coffee or tea, which I believe should be a standard amenity in a 4-star hotel. The closet has a safe, but it seems you need to rent the key, which is outdated and inconvenient, especially since you'd have to carry the safe key to the beach. A safe with a combination lock would be more modern and practical.

The balcony is large enough to relax on, but the plastic chairs could use cushions. The terrace light cannot be turned off, and noise from the pool area (live music in the evenings) is quite loud and disruptive, even with the balcony door closed.

The air conditioning works but is very loud on any setting above the lowest fan speed, and the poorly installed vent covers are an eyesore.

Overall, the Hotel BG Pamplona lacks many details one would expect from a 4-star hotel. My experience was rather disappointing, and I would not recommend it as a hotel in this category.

As a family of three, we recently visited Hotel Pamplona. This was the second visit for my mother and child, as they had a great experience previously.

Unfortunately, this visit was quite different.

We were greeted by an unprofessional receptionist, and the hotel attempted to charge us for a "city tax" despite it being included in our prior full payment.

Upon arriving at our room, the key did not work, requiring us to return to the front desk to obtain another one. Additionally, the room lock's battery was low.

Inside the room, we found that the two beds were smaller than pictured, and the sofa bed was broken, making it impossible for the third person to sleep. The hotel offered us a separate room for one night, which was considerate, but the manner in which it was handled was poor. The receptionist, again rude, abruptly cut off my call when I was seeking a solution. He offered no alternative other than the separate room and displayed a lack of proper customer service skills.

The following day, when we attempted to discuss these issues with the manager, she ignored us and simply instructed the other receptionists to either swap our rooms or fix the bed. A very kind technician eventually fixed the bed and provided an extra mattress. The cleaning and maintenance staff offered excellent service, 10/10.

However, when visiting the bar, the service fell short. Despite ordering multiple items, the staff did not offer to bring them to the sunbeds, leaving us to manage carrying several drinks ourselves. The sun canopy was also broken; when we called a bar worker, he inspected it, apologized, and left without resolving the issue.

On a positive note, the food was fantastic, the chefs were excellent, and the restaurant staff were very friendly.

Lastly, it's worth mentioning that none of the staff spoke English. It's perplexing how an international hotel can operate without English-speaking staff.
