I had a pleasant stay at this place! The staff at the reception desk and breakfast area were incredibly friendly and helpful, which really made a difference. I loved the charming old-style decor, especially the beautiful spiral staircase—it added a nice touch to the ambiance. The location is fantastic, being close to the metro station, bakeries, restaurants, and a supermarket, making it very convenient for exploring the area.

However, I do want to mention that the rooms are quite small. If you're traveling with a lot of luggage, it might be a bit of a challenge to fit everything comfortably. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to others, just keep the room size in mind!

I had a great stay in Paris at Hotel Meslay Republique. Staff were very friendly and helpful and all spoke great English which I was grateful for. The hotel is ideally central with 5/13 metro lines available 200m away, and 10 mins walk to both bustling dining hubs Canal Saint Martin and Le Marais, bursting with lively restaurants and cafes. Rooms are a lot larger than other hotels I've stayed at in Paris. I had a bath (great for hand washing during my 5 night stay) and balcony for a very reasonable price. Decor is outdated but I expected this from reviews so wasn't an issue. Clean room and bathroom, with a comfortable bed. Kettle and fridge in the room (which I specifically looked when researching hotels) and for the warmer nights, a pedestal fan was provided. I am not a breakfast person so opted out and as an early riser, the Starbucks a block away was a godsend for an early morning stroll along the canal before the rest of the city was out and about. Like other Paris hotels, guest are encouraged to leave room keys with reception when heading out for the day/evening. This is totally normal. Being in central Paris, there was likely traffic and street noise throughout the night but I always travel with earplugs and didn't hear anything. If this hotel had been renovated, I have no doubt it would be well outside my budget. A full 5 stars for my 3 star expectations.

All staff members were nice and welcoming. The breakfast is good in terms of price and varieties. Clean overall.

My sister and I booked this hotel for a one night visit to Paris last weekend. On arrival, Saturday afternoon, the man at reception greeted us, gave us our room key. The hotel was very clean. Room was small but adequate and again, clean.
After getting ready in our room we realized we lost our room key. We went down to the reception and told the man, apologizing. He grabbed a large set of master keys, gestured to my sister abruptly and said 'you come with me in the lift upstairs' and (gesturing to me) 'you stay here at reception'. I felt uneasy and wanted to stay with my sister. I followed them to the lift and said I wanted to go up also. On saying this the man became extremely aggressive, yelling at us. He said things like oh you think I'm going to do something, you think I will attack you.
He continued to shout at us. We were extremely upset and didn't know why he was behaving like this. He said he needed someone to stay at reception for security reasons (This is the hotels responsibility, not mine. What we do and where we go is up to us). He continued yelling at us and told us that we would not be staying at the hotel, we need to leave and would not get a refund.
Not having a room key, my sister and I went outside to gather ourselves and figure out what we will do. While we were outside the man came outside and started yelling at us. He was saying things like ' you accuse me of this, at my age.'
I would like to add, during this whole event my sister and I never accused this man of anything. We wanted to stay together, we never said anything offensive or acted inappropriately or disrespected him.
Eventually we came across a lovely English couple, and, feeling unsafe to go up to the room alone, we asked them could they please stay at reception while we go to the room together to grab all of our belongings and leave. They were so kind and happily assisted us. On entering the hotel these lovely people then got yelled at by the man.
My sister and I had to get in a tiny lift with this man (we felt very unsafe as he was yelling so aggressively at us), got to our room, grabbed our stuff and left our room. I told my sister not to say a word to the man when we get downstairs and just walk straight out the door. On passing him he said 'do you have your room key', I replied saying no, that we had lost it. The man replied ' cancel your booking online and I will give you a refund'. We did not reply and we left.
We were so shocked and upset by this whole event. I would suggest you stay away from this hotel.

Clean hotel with nice rooms, great bathrooms. The receptionist is friendlier if you speak french, but that was no issue. Would go there again

Charming hotel off the Place de Repulique. Big metro station nearby makes it convenient. Plus lots of restaurants in the area, and walking distance to Le Marais, and Canal St Martin. Staff was very friendly, and the hotel well maintained. It was a good value too.

Decent hotel for central Paris costing just over 100 a night. The hotel is close to the République Square and has lots of shops and Cafes around. The street that it is up is not the most desirable but it was extremely quiet, especially at night. The hotel itself is very traditional and quite dated, but I actually found it quite authentic, the room was a good size and incredibly clean. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I would imagine the room would be quite hot in summer as even in March, I found it very warm. did not have breakfast so can’t comment. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in this hotel last weekend and it was not a good experience. The decor is very dated which was fine as this is what the photos portrayed. Old scratchy blankets on the beds. Staff are helpful and pleasant. The room was extremely hot even though the weather was not very hot at night. There was an old noisy fan to cool down which was very noisy and kept me awake, so I opened the window and it was extremely noisy on the street, I did not sleep all night. Which ruined my sightseeing for the next day. The room was over 220 euros for one night which is outrageous for the tiny room that was provided for three people. I did not get any sleep and when I complained the next day I was advised I got a good price for central Paris! I wish I had gone for a cheaper hotel in a less central area which would have been better than this one, was happy to leave after one night. Very overpriced for what was offered.

The staff were extremely kind. Me and my sister got to practice using the french we've learnt previously in school, and they got happy when we spoke french. It encouraged us to keep on trying to speak french. The rooms were small but very cozy. The beds were comfortable, and our room was clean and tidy when we came back. I would definitely recommend going here! I would love to come back to this hotel ❤️😊

The hotel is situated in a lively area of Paris with a variety of restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is in a quiet side street and was easy to find from the metro. Our room was very small and extremely hot as there wasn’t any air conditioning. However we were provided with a fan which was a life saver. The hotel would benefit from some updating as it looked tired in places. However it was very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall, for a budget hotel, it was value for money.
