Amphitryon Hotel

While the service and public areas are outstanding, the rooms are not. Shabby curtains, woodwork that badly needs sanding/restaining, a pocket door to the bathroom that requires the strength of Hercules to move; these are regular maintenance items that should be done but aren’t. These pale in comparison to the nightmare that is the bed. Every person we talked to in our tour group said the same: the beds are AWFUL. They might as well put a sheet on a boxspring, it’s so uncomfortable. The frame creaked loudly any time either of us moved, including getting in/out or just rolling over. While road noise is fine with the slider to the balcony closed, it’s glaringly loud (people, cars, motorcycles) when you open them, which you will have to do because the heat wouldn’t turn off, making the room stifling. Both evenings we opened the slider to get some cool air, and had to close them within an hour due to the overwhelming woodsmoke that filtered in. So it was either get smoked out or swelter…what a choice. I can’t say I’d stay here again.

We booked 2 rooms for the 3 of us, my mother and my son and I. 5 stars for hotel location and view. 1 star for the rest. Not the employees fault. They are severely understaffed, there is nowhere to truly sit, rest drink anything. Pool shared with hotel which is above, u need to walk uphill. Pity, it could have been a super gem. Invest in your hotel, owner !!!!!

It’s was once a very modern and new age hotel. But it has been badly maintained, as you can see from the photos.
