Plaza Hotel in Thessaloniki

Our room smelled like cigarette smoke when we got there but we were thinking it was because the window was left open. At night smoke started pouring out of a vent in our room which seems to be connected to other rooms. The hallway on our floor was full of smoke.

We contacted the person at the reception but he said that there is nothing that he can do. It seems like the staff turn a blind eye to guests who smoke in this hotel.

The law states that the hotel must either clean your room or offer a replacement but we did not get any option so we had to leave in the middle of the night.

They told us that they can not give us a refund for the stay or the breakfast we did not have but as a "token" of appreciation they will refund us the parking price. This is not acceptable.

I had to wake up at 3am to catch an early flight, and I couldn’t sleep at all due to the hotel being next to a bar that plays extremely loud music in the weekends. Had a terrible experience overall, especially as I had booked this hotel by mistake on booking.com and only realised it when I arrived at the location. The staff were not helpful, even though they saw I was under a lot of stress when I realised I was in the wrong place.

I think this is the first time in my life that I am commenting on any of my stays, but I want to warn people to stay away from this hotel. It's not even the average rooms in urgent need of renovation, poor service or breakfast, but its rather unauthorized cost they charged my card for the breakfast costs for 2 people that didn't have it. Tried to reslove with emails, but impossible to do. Book somewhere else, many great options around and thank me later.

I have added on my original review, as I was just falsely accused by the hotel that I lied about members of our party having breakfast. Please see the attached screenshot. Its beyond my comprehension that they would go this way and rather than admitting their mistake and returning what they have stole, they do this instead. For anyone reading this review, this should be enough.

To make things even worst, they sent a message to booking lying that I didn't pay, even though they knew they made an unauthorized charge on my credit card. Screenshot is attached. I am getting tired of this back and forth with them, but just want to protect future travelers. Believe me and other honest reviews of other disgruntled travelers below or them, up to you.
