Magnificent setting for this lovely hotel, set up in the top of the mountains.

The lower floor of the hotel is nicely modernised. But the bedrooms especially the shower was quite out of date and showing signs of this.

The bed, bedding, towels, the whole hotel were spotlessly clean.

The staff were extremely lovely and helpful and although very professional displayed their willingness to enjoy humour with us.

The breakfast choices and variety exceeded our expectations. Such a huge array of fresh foods.
In a country where oranges are visible in the trees, there wasn't fresh juice available sadly.
Our only disappointment was the restaurant. The vegetarian option was only one and it didn't change during our five day stay. Other items we tried were beautifully cooked but came with no vegetables or a very small amount of potato. Again, over the five days the variety didn't change very much and there wasn't enough choice to entice us to more than two dinners.

Overall a fabulous venue and stay and I would definitely return.

Dinner was amazing. The breakfast buffet offered many choices and sufficed to start the day.
The rooms offered beautiful views among the clouds.
The SPA! Oh the SPA! Melissa gave a spectacular massage. The facility was spotless, warm, welcoming and cozy. As a massage therapist myself, I feel more than qualified to recommend visiting the spa. I wish I had more time to avail myself of the services.

My September stay at the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the lush hills of Barga, the resort offers a tranquil escape with panoramic views of the Serchio Valley that seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Each morning, I woke to a soft mist rising from the valley, the sun casting golden light over the rolling hills—a scene straight out of a painting.
The resort itself is immaculately maintained, with elegant interiors that blend rustic Tuscan charm with modern comfort. My room was spotless, spacious, and opened onto a balcony that made it hard to leave—especially with the valley views and the peaceful silence broken only by birdsong.
One of the most memorable aspects of the stay was the walk down the long, steep drive leading from the resort to the base of the hill. It’s a bit of a trek, but it’s worth every step. At the bottom, tucked away like a secret, is a fantastic little pizzeria—a true gem. The aroma of wood-fired dough greets you before you even step inside. The pizza was some of the best I’ve had in Italy: crisp, flavorful, and made with fresh local ingredients. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the setting—surrounded by trees and quiet countryside—made it feel like a hidden retreat.
Back at the resort, the dining options were equally impressive. The food was outstanding, with rich Tuscan flavors and beautifully presented dishes. Whether it was breakfast on the terrace or dinner under the stars, every meal felt special.
Overall, the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco is a perfect blend of luxury, nature, and authentic Italian hospitality. It’s ideal for anyone looking to unwind, explore the beauty of Tuscany, and indulge in incredible food. I left feeling refreshed, inspired, and already dreaming of my return.

Stayed in early August for four nights while attending an amazing wedding and had an absolutely wonderful experience.

The setting was beautiful and the hotel has amazing views of the Apennine mountain range.

The rooms were great and spacious (I tried two during my stay) but the bathtub didn’t dispense water quickly in both rooms. That was my only little gripe.

The staff were exceptional, always polite, accommodating, and incredibly friendly. No task was ever too much trouble, and their attention to detail made the stay truly special. My stay was a fantastic memory.

What an amazing location for such a beautiful hotel. The views are so picturesque and peaceful. Lovely rooms with great food. Spend 4 nights there for my daughter’s surprise birthday. Staff are very accommodating. I would definitely recommend this stunning hotel although where it’s situated you need to have a car, unless you are happy to chill by the pool or spa. Thank you to all that made our stay very welcoming and pleasurable.

Outstanding from the hotel service to the fairytale views. We had a wonderful stay in our balcony room. The resort staff Lorenzo, Alice and Guilio were truly customer focused outstanding employees and made our stay extra special the 6 days we started there. Guilio suggested the winery tour at Concori and it was so delightful along with the pasta making class. Thanks Guilio!

Our stay at the Renaissance was, for the most part, excellent! Honestly what made a huge difference in our stay, was the Navigator Concierge Manuel, he is awesome, and deserves a raise. Manuel if you're reading this, great job, we'll miss you!! He organized taxis for us, moved existing reservations, and made us feel extremely welcomed. The only negative things we experienced were, the spa and food, we were not prepared for the massage we received, it was way too intimate, and even after my wife and I told the masseuse that we were uncomfortable, they continued to touch us in very intimate places. So prepare yourself if you're not familiar with this style of massage. The food, was shockingly Americanized, and I was surprised that it wasn't higher quality, especially with the town of Barga close by, where we had amazing meals, at restaurants suggested by Manuel. Otherwise, the room, location, and service was exceptional.

We had a solid two-night stay here. The location is a bit off the beaten path - and you get rewarded for that with amazing views and peace and quiet - but still close enough to Barga and Lucca. The room was comfortable (the bed was phenomenal) if small. The spa/indoor pool is nice but fairly small, and the gym could use with some more equipment - there’s more than enough space for it. Decent breakfast but not memorable. Service was great - I’m picky with rooms and they helped make sure we got one that worked well for us
