Reviews
A few drawbacks:
- Airconditioning was completely tunrned off by the end of October. Staff said it was because the place was getting too cold, but we had 26C in our room and without the AC there is also insufficient circulation so you have to rely on opening windows.
- WiFi is terrible and keeps disconnecting.
- The doors and walls are thin so there’s a fair bit of noise from inside the hotel.
And some good stuff:
- Friendly staff
- Excellent location very close to the train station while being on a “safe” side street.
- Walking distance to anything you’ll want to see in central Florence

Our room was filthy. Stains on the the head board, dirty walls, peeling paint, splashes of soap or tooth paste on the bathroom walls, thick layer of dirt/dust on the top of the bathroom tile, hair on the shower wall. The fabric shower curtain had the smell of strong bleach, and while it looked clean, as soon as it got wet, you could see all of the mold on it. The sink and bidet did not drain properly which left gross residue everywhere.
Also, there is no air circulation in the room at all, it is muggy and stale, and while the ac unit has a button for the fan, it did not work.
My husband's asthma even started acting up every time we were in the room. It is triggered by dust.
We would open the windows to freshen up the stale are in the room because the AC never came on, even after we tried lowering the temp. The street outside is loud and chaotic even with the window closed.
To end our stay, We had the building fire alarm go off early morning waking us panicked. It lasted a few minutes then it was turned off. No apology issued at any time.
I ended up using my Lysol travel wipes to reclean everything since it was too late for us to go to a different hotel. I chose not to complain to the front desk since after reading some other reviews its obvious they take no accountability.
Only positives are the staff is very kind and the location convenient.
The refusal felt less about policy and more about a complete disregard for basic empathy. It’s hard not to suspect they resold the room, profiting twice while ignoring a genuine health-related request.
This experience reflects a troubling lack of care and integrity. I would strongly caution others against booking with this establishment.
They offered me a voucher valid only until December 31st, 2025 despite my medical documentation clearly stating I would be unable to travel for at least 20 weeks. This did not influence their decision in any way.
In their reply, they claimed to have offered me the option to transfer the booking to someone else. That is simply untrue, no such offer was ever made.
Years ago, I stayed at this hotel, and it was top notch. Staff, room, food, everything was great. Now, I will never come back here again. It's has dropped severely in the area of quality. It should really be a two star hotel now. Even the front desk day manager dresses as if he doesn't care, untidy, pants and shirt all wrinkled. Before, the desk staff took pride in what they looked like, suit and tie, and the hotel was clean and was taken care of.
This hotel needs to clean up it's act in every category.
Hygiene: Not bad, a little old, but generally clean
Service: The service attitude is very good and all questions are answered patiently
