We stayed in the Hotel San Giorgio for just under a week while visiting Florence. The hotel is ideally placed, a 1 minute walk from the tram station to the airport, a few minutes from the main town and surrounded by places to visit.
The hotel staff were lovely, friendly and accommodating, the hotel is rustic, homely and very Italian. I feel most of the reviews complaining about the rooms are people far too used to generic, boring chain hotels and have an expectation of sterile premier Inn type hotel.
This is not that, the room was clean, comfortable, everything worked as it should, the water was hot in the shower and the staff cleaned and dressed the room daily.
The breakfast was pleasant, coffee was good and when we go back to Florence, we would happily stay there again.

Location was fantastic, and rooms were clean with a decent view. Love the lobby, but what really knocked a star off this review for me was the receptionist. He was very kurt, and unhelpful when I asked for information. I literally went to another hotel who helped me get the information I needed as well as working to help me translate things to find my way. This was only my experience though.
The room was what I needed, nothing fancy though they were a bit small. If the receptionist had been more welcoming, I probably would have given this place 5 stars.

Overall, Hotel San Giorgio & Olimpic is a 3-star hotel with a great price. The location is fantastic, close to everything, and you can walk to many main attractions. It’s also right by the train station, which is very convenient.
The rooms are okay but not the best. The pillows were uncomfortable, and the shower wasn’t good at all. The water pressure was low, and the hot water wasn’t consistent. The rooms felt pretty outdated and had a bit of a smell.
One downside was at the end of our 5-day stay, we had to pay 60 euros for an unexpected tourist tax. This was surprising because we had booked and paid online with Booking.com, and we didn’t think it was right to be charged extra.
On the positive side, the place had a small balcony, which was nice. The breakfast was good too, so that was a plus.
I’m not saying this is a bad hotel, it’s just my honest opinion based on my stay. For the price and location, it’s a decent choice, but there are some areas that could use improvement.

This hotel needs renovations in a desperate way. The comforters are stained, pillow flat, hard bed, dirty corners and rusty fixtures.
The worst is the management. The elevator closes on you no matter if you try to stop it. My friend cut open her arm trying to and management v wouldn't even give her a bandage nor a report so she could file a travel insurance claim if she needed medical attention in case it got worse while traveling.
There are plenty more hotels in this area that are much better in the same price range.

The room is not exactly the same image as is it in website, bathroom very outdated, the room is ok. But the fridge doesn't stay closed to keep our water bottles cold. The cleaner comes in daily with fresh towels, which I'm impressive. Daily breakfast is ok. The reception staff are excellent. The hotel is close to all amenities. We only have to walk everywhere & and love it.

Located right in the centre of Florence and within walking distance to the S M Novella train station. Friendly staff. Loved our stay, especially the convenient location. Charming historical hotel whose age did not bother too much.

Perfect location! Breakfast is normal and still could be improved! Staff is excellent and very helpful especially on the reception . Room was cleaned every day! Balcony is a must for fresh air. TV is small and was out of order! Hair dryer was burnt and spare was given from reception. Lift is for 5 person and was good. Very close to train station and to all places to visit average time 15-25 min by walk! Furniture is very old. Room space is fine. Bathroom and vane was clean and tidy. Air condition - ok. Small fridge available and No mini bar. For a long stay order room with balcony. It was a nice and pleasant hotel to stay. Strongly recommended☘️☘️☘️❤️❤️❤️

We have been a few days in Florence and really enjoyed our stay, in part due to the hotel.
A few outstanding points:
- other reviews mention this as well, the staff is really friendly and makes you feel welcome.
- it is really really close to the tram way from the airport. So convenient
- it is really close to everything we wanted to visit in the city. Get off the plane - walk over to T2 tram - walk just accros the street to the hotel - drop your bags and enjoy.
- the family style rooms on the ground floor and on the five floor make you feel a bit at home
I liked the authenticity of the Italian breakfast. Yes they serve real espresso. I would suggest to have some fresh fruits.
I give a five star rating without hesitation. Don’t forget it’s a 3 star hotel, so don’t expect the features of a 4 or 5 star. It’s not the same price neither.
