Hotel Città Studi in Milan

The hotel was extremely basic and outdated. We were honestly not expecting much and we are quite happy with just a clean room. The air conditioner was very old, and the vents were stuck making a light tapping noise every minute. The mini fridge was making extra terrestrial moans and groans, so we unplugged it before going to sleep. The wooden blinds were stuck and ziptied so we had to force them shut before bed. The walls / water pipes are not insulted and you hear every room next to you flushing or having a shower, day and night. The breakfast included basic pastries, toast, cereal, yoghurt which was about what we expected. However, they may have the worst self serve automatic coffee machine we have dealt with in years. Taste was bad, speed was incredibly slow (so there was line ups for coffee).  Would I stay there again? Probably. In a pinch, for the right price, and just one night again

I had a great stay.
The stuff was friendly and the room was always clean.
The only problem was the sounds from the other rooms.
Didn't have a problem with that at all, just have it in mind.

I very much enjoyed my stay here, particularly my interactions with the staff who were at the front desk 24x7. Though not particularly fancy, this place is comfortable and friendly, and the sort of thing I would have been delighted to find when I was a student traveler. I'd consider it the perfect find for someone looking for an economical choice close to Politecnico Milano, or just a few metro stops away from Linate or the duomo and city center (which are also walkable, just a long walk). My double room had A/C, a balcony, and a nice-but-small bathroom. Breakfasts were a decent mix of cakes, croissants, yoghurts, cereal, bread, cheese, biscuits. Wi-fi was super-fast. The neighborhood is generally on the quiet side, yet with restaurants, bars, and shops within easy walking distance.

The hotel is located in a quiet location outside the city center. Milano Centrale is just a 10-minute tram ride away.
As is typical in Italy, breakfast offers only sweet treats and could perhaps benefit from some fruit or cheese.
My room was renovated, except for the bathroom, and had air conditioning.

Excellent hotel. Very hospitable, friendly staff. Cozy rooms. Every time I visit Milan (in recent years) I stay here. Conveniently located. No more than 15-20 minutes by public transport to the train station and the historic center. Good view from the balcony of the room.
