San Francesco al Monte Hotel

We stayed three nights to attend a wedding. The church was just a few feet away and the reception was held at the hotel. It was a lovely stay with amazing views. We were able to see much of Naples either by walking or taxi.

Not a bad location or hotel
Great place, great location, nice views and good roof top. Really cool hotel, and the vibes were immaculate.

Come for the view
Lovely view of Napoli from the hotel room as well as the dining room and terraces. The hotel has many art pieces displayed across the premises, which was a pleasant surprise. Room on 2nd floor very noisy due to the infamous traffic of Napoli. Not the best bed. Breakfast and dining room was good.

Honestly we fell in love with this hotel. So much to explore with art and hidden corners and history. We dined in both nights and it was extraordinary. Giuseppe and his team took great care of. I highly recommend the Chateaubriand.

The room facilities are complete and the staff are friendly.

The hotel has a beautiful authentic design, a beautiful view from the room, but the wifi worked poorly for us. The location is good, but only for those who like to walk and not shave, walk uphill a couple of kilometers.

The most beautiful hotel with authentic, historical features that made my heart happy. The service is impeccable. My room with terrace offered the most stunning views of the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The fine dining restaurant was beautiful, had fabulous service and delicious food. I would recommend staying here without hesitation. For Americans, each room had AC and they can provide ice on request. We ordered room service for breakfast for one person, but we (women) could have definitely shared the portions served.

We first came here on a romantic impulse about 14-15 years ago. Trina’s inaugural visit to Italy. (Nine months later we had our first child…) The hotel remains as good now as then. I can see why some people might be taken aback: it’s up a hill; there is little contemporary chic; there are a few quirks depending on how many guests are staying… Yet the hotel is splendid. The sense of place and history is powerful. The rooms are simple yet comfortable. The hill provides amazing views across Vesuvius, Mt Somma, the Bay of Naples, and Capri. Everyone is friendly. The staff, particularly in the dining room, are excellent. Breakfast is good and certain offerings are just outstanding. It takes less than 5 minutes walk to be in the Spanish quarter and its various dedications to Maradona, Sophia Loren, and Toto; about 10 minutes walk to reach the main road with shops and museums; and 10-20 minutes walk to see the Caravaggios in town and the amazing museum of archeology. Along the way there is a great book district (if mostly in Italian). The hotel and its location give you a real sense of being in Naples and all its glory. I’m really pleased to have returned!
