Reviews
Breakfast was good enough but it's a real pity that the breakfast area doesn't have a single window which would make all the difference.
Our room had a small balcony with overview of Via Toledo. There was only one bedside table, and few outlets to charge your phone. One of the bedside lamps had no lampshade. Breakfast consisted mainly of pastries, cakes and lukewarm coffee
Pros:
Location is great, one of the main pedestrian streets is just outside(Via Toledo), also a short walk to the metro and the ferry terminal. The hotel was quiet at night, the Wi-Fi speed was good.
Cleaning was good, the staff was overall nice and friendly.
Cons:
The Aircon wasn't working, the room was like a sauna.
There was small ants on the floor and on the table, not the whole time, but frequently. The bed was hard and the pillows where thin.
The fridge wasn't working, the shower was leaking water out on the floor. The water pressure in shower was low.
The toilet was not for the shy, the glass door had a big gap at the floor and the top, so no privacy when you had to go.
It's on the third floor so that means 4 floors of stairs to climb. That's because the elevator is a rickety coffin that none of us would dare. I had asked for a room on a low floor because my wife cannot take an elevator - the first floor of the hotel is the fourth floor of the building!
A birthday treat for my partner, so I upgraded and by the looks of it we had the biggest suit out of the 9 rooms at this boutique hotel.
Things I loved - the size of the room, so spacious and airy, high ceilings and very modern. Loved the wardrobe rail that you pulled down and the bed was very elaborate. The tub in the middle of the room with rain fall shower. Very fancy. The location was superb, right in the centre of Naples in the Spanish quarter with the Umberto Gallery and numerous eateries and bars on your door step. A 5 minute walk from the port which was great for getting the ferry for day trips to the smaller islands close by. 5 minute walk from castle Nuovo. Sound proofing was brilliant once you closed the balcony doors all the sound of the busy street of Naples below disappeared. The staff were absolutely wonderful, so friendly, polite, accomodating and welcoming. We changed our flight and came a day earlier and it was an easy transaction to add an extra room for the night via email with the team.
The room was cleaned and made everyday to high standards, everything replenished and my clothes even got folded and tidied away. Breakfast included every morning in the lounge area and some interesting gothic art work on the wall to view. One unusual request was that when you leave the room you hand your key in at reception and collect when you arrive back.
Cons - Some of the basic essentials in a hotel room were missing - no bed side tables or a proper dresser area for getting ready, making getting ready really awkward with the only mirror being the bathroom. The shower which was amazing with extra functions lacked being amazing because of the wall it was fitted on the space provided by the glass wall surrounding the shower. Fyi, there is no door to the bathroom and the shower is see through in the bedroom this room is best for couples or singles as there is no privacy. The air conditioning wasn't very cool, and the open shower utilities made the room quite humid and feel damp. It was easier to keep the room cool by having the window open if you didn't mind the hustle and bustle of the busy street below. Although the entry to the hotel isn't very obvious it's a back door route in with a sketchy elevator up to the 3rd floor, once you arrived you were always greeted with a smile and a hello, we felt very safe and welcome at Hotel Santa Brigida.
Certainly is not a 4 star hotel. We had no hot water for our whole stay and hotel didn't make any adjustment or support to provide hot water. This to me was just unacceptable. While I understand that things can break but running a 4 star hotel should consider these situations and have plan to support their guests need.
The breakfast was laid out nicely but was mostly packaged food....I.e Oreo cookies as one of the items (which I am sure is neither fresh nor very Italian), juices were all from boxes. It certainly looked pretty.
Location is convenient. All in all it is a 3 star hotel at best and I would be hesitant to stay here again.
Our experience was great! What we found exceptional was the buffet breakfast, it is extremely impressive in both quality and range of things on offer.
Highly recommended
Best thing about this hotel is it's location, right in the heart of Spanish Quarter, loads of great eateries and bars.
