Hotel 81 Heritage in Singapore

I checked in at mid night with my husband and found out that the room was stuffy and warm due to centralised aircond. Front desk staff was not friendly and welcome. Also not helpful when I needed to adjust the aircond temp. The temp outside the room was even better than inside, not sure why.. For 120++ hotel it was not worth it. 😢

this hotel is terrible. We expected at least a clean, decent stay, but it was the opposite. The toilet floor had very obvious hairs, not just one or two, and there was even a small cockroach. The air-conditioning control didn’t work, so we couldn’t adjust the temperature. The bedsheet had stains and looked unclean.

What made it worse was the noise, around midnight, people were walking and talking loudly in the corridor, and you could hear every word clearly from the room. The bathroom basin pipe was leaking whenever I turned on the tap.

When I asked the reception to change rooms, they said no and ignored my complaint about the leak. Someone came to check that night, but even after staying two nights, it was never fixed. This hotel might be rated two stars, but it deserves zero

A Truly Disappointing Stay: A Regrettable Choice
My stay at this hotel was an absolute nightmare, leaving me with significant regret about my trip. From the moment I stepped into the room, I knew I had made a big mistake.
Constant Noise Pollution. The soundproofing in the room was abysmal. From early morning until late at night, I was plagued by the incessant clanging of cleaning staff's buckets and the frequent opening and closing of the utility room door. This constant barrage of noise made it impossible to get proper rest, severely impacting my sleep quality.
Uncontrollable Air Conditioning. Even worse, the air conditioning in the room was uncontrollable! There was no remote provided by the hotel, meaning I was stuck with a fixed temperature. While the AC was cool enough, the moment you felt too cold in the middle of the night, there was nothing you could do to adjust it. That feeling of helplessness when you're freezing and can't change the temperature is incredibly frustrating and makes true relaxation impossible.
Poorly Designed Hairdryer. The hairdryer's design was also incredibly impractical. It was fixed inside a drawer, limiting the cord length, so I could only use it while seated. To make matters worse, the on/off switch was integrated into the handle, requiring me to constantly press down while drying my hair. This anti-user design was a real pain, turning a simple task into an uncomfortable chore.
Ill-Conceived Bathroom Sink. Adding to the list of frustrations was the bathroom sink. The faucet's design made it incredibly easy to splash water everywhere, leading to a constant struggle to avoid getting soaked every time I used it. It's a small detail, but it speaks volumes about the lack of thought put into guest comfort.
