Room have funny smell, especially the toilet... I try to wash it off, but the smell still there... Urine smell came from drainage I think.
After came back from dinner abt 8 something, air-conditioning not working.
Call receptionist, they say have to wait 1 hour for staff to change filter...
Front desk staff was helpful. Except room maintenance is really bad...

Very bad service. Not clean. Not recommended for family stay. Manager has attitude problem. The room facilities enters the room to clean without a request when you're not around. Condition of the room looked more like hourly stay.

‘NO VALUE’ Thompson Hotel Balestier.
Stay time - 2 weeks. 27/05/23 - 10/06/23
A very bad place to stay.
1. Rude staff
2. Impolite hospitality
3. Manager is a psychopath
4. Cheating advertisement of swimming pool and gym. Timings are between 8-6 when no one can use.
5. Racial discrimination on Indians evident.
6. Not flexible.
7. Poor room service with unclean toilets. (I had to clean 2 times)
Overall a hotel which can charge 20$ for what it offers and totally unsuitable for businessman and women.

Not exactly cheap, and so much problems come with the room.
Moldy bed, broken shower head, ants crawling on the sink, water dripping from the lamp and the room is... very small with no windows. Had to request for room change but it got worse instead, the only good thing is the place is quite strategic and close to alot of foods. But other than that, should've spent the pennies elsewhere.

As the name suggest it matches for the value we are paying, rooms very small and compact for small stay for a day or so. Even though it's clean and tidy the basic ammenties are available. We had a problem with our shower tap leaking which is yet to be addressed to the staff. Overall a good experience as it's very near by to all local destination. Staff are very friendly.. I would give 5 star if they had complimentary breakfast 😉

Very very small rooms. Much smaller than what I expected. Hardly any space in bathroom. Overall only if you have a very very tight budget you should opt for this

Nice , clean, spacious room ; but a little noisy (meaning you can hear the next door using hairdryer sound) but that's okay for me.
The staff are good people too...two handsome receptionist that help me check in . The other staff are helpful too.
Location are very comfortable too...very very easy to access bus , also near mini market that's a plus for me . One block away from Whampoa Food Market too.
Definitely will be staying back here again if i visit Singapore next time

Cheap place, but lacks basic stuff like non-smelly rooms. Rooms smell of cigarettes and the bathroom stinks always. Weird logic of paying charges for the whole stay upon checking in and not giving you a proof of payment, just added to the welcome. The reception staff is neither truthful nor upfront. I won't recommend this place for anyone.

Great place for value in Singapore. It's somewhat outside of the city centre, but there is a bus stop right next to the hotel that will take you straight to Orchard Street for shopping, or to the closest MRT. The first room we had didn't have a window, but managed to change it to one with, the staff was really helpful there. Biggest drawback for me is that I couldn't turn off the AC so the room was too cold for my taste!
