There is only 1 reason a 1 star rating is given and even that is being generous.

Please read other reviews here and be informed.

Save yourself your money and the stress.

Go elsewhere.

This place is an illusion both in the photos and the real when you arrive.

Enough said.

Very indecent staff behaviour. No hospitality. Rude and harsh behaviour towards guests. They ignore calls that we made from our rooms for tsmall things like bottles.
Hard to communicate because of language barriers and they are mostly disinterested to listen to any query and zero motivation to help their guest

For 4 star hotel, this place is quite sad.
There’s absolutely no amenities given just the bare bone minimum of what you would expect from a motel.
We were only given 2 toothbrushes, shower caps, cotton swabs, and a small all in one body and hair wash.
There’s a mini fridge with absolutely nothing in it; a kettle and 4 cups with nothing to drink.

As for the service, because of the fact that our flight arrives early in the morning at 5am; I wanted to be vigilant and be able to have a place to crash and rest up so I emailed about a possible early check in; but sadly was never given a reply back.

Upon arrival, the ladies at the check in counter weren’t exactly rude; but definitely wasn’t the most friendliest or welcoming nor was it the most helpful.

If I ever want the same type of service, I would be better off getting a hostel or a bed and breakfast which would’ve costed me the same amount of price if not less than what I’ve paid here.

Lastly because of the hotels location in old town, I do understand the old rustic vibe; but with the lack amenities; this 4 star hotel is giving more of a creepy haunted hotel more than a luxury kid friendly hotel as it is advertised.

This is the worst hotel ever I have stayed in my entire life. I do not recommend anyone to go to this hotel for accommodation. The rooms & furniture are extremely old. Hotel staffs are very rude, they do not give respect to tourists. Breakfast spread for vegetarian is zero. You just get 2 fruits. There is no tea or coffee powders in room. The location of the hotel is just opposite to Khoa San road where one side you can see all the homeless people sleeping right in the entrance road and the opposite road is just bashing with loud music. We regretted staying in this old dingy hotel. I would give zero rating for this so called hotel.

The hotel is showing its age, with cracks in walls that were patched and have cracked again. Repainting is needed pretty much everywhere. The pool seems in good shape but the doors to get out to it are in bad shape. The property has seen better days.

The food is good for breakfast, though the coffee is thick, bitter and strong. I didn't try the tea because it was as dark as the coffee. I didn't try the coffee shop pastries though they looked good.

The location is good at an axis of several major streets, but through no fault of the hotel, there are many vagrants along the streets of the hotel. Some have some blankets out to sell wares but many are just passing time. Unlike in America they don't beg for cash as you walk by, but there are abandoned buildings that don't seem to be getting worked on and it's not a great neighborhood. Khao San road is less than a ten minute walk away.

DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURES.
The hotel is in a great location BUT the place was seriously lacking, our room was quite tiny and the bathroom was awful. We arrived, were put in a double single room instead of the one bed and had no towels (which they disputed and came to our room to check we were telling the truth). The place inside had old carpet and the pool was a lot smaller than the pictures and kind of dirty. Also had to pay a deposit for the room which was returned after check out. Would not return here.

It’s fine, staff doesn’t really speak English. Location is close to Khao San Road. Lots of tuktuks and taxi’s in front of the hotel.

This hotel really needs a renovation! Everything is old and outdated. AC is not so good. Some parts of the floor carpet are still dirty. Not enough electrical outlet and not the universal one.
Only the good thing is the location. But you can find more decent hotel near Khao San road.

The hotel has it's long history since WW II. I personally like some old but charismatic character of the place. The room is big, it offers 1 single bed and 1 double bed which I found quite comfy. The hotel stand right on the corner opposit Sanam Luang which allows me easy access to many must see places in Bangkok such as The Grand Palace, Temple of The Emerald Buddha, etc.
I sure will come for another visit and would recommend for travellers who enjoy sightseeing around town, probably not for those who looking for luxury escape.

One of the old style Bangkok hotels that has survived, probably because of its location and history. I did not stay here for over 30 years but visited the lobby restaurant to reminice.
The food and menu (as far as I remember) has not changed that much and the Tuna sandwich still comes on slightly toasted bread with a side salad and prawn crackers. Of course 30 years ago this was the hight of western dining 😂
