The public hotel is located at the center of the istiklal street in a tight alley. Hotel has a unique and interesting interior design. Rooms are situated in 2 blocks which one has the alley view and one block has the hotel backside view. The personnel were kind and helpful enough. Hotel doesn't have the laundry service. Breakfast was ok considering the 4 star hotel. Standard double rooms were relatively small and vanity was located next to the bed outside the toilet area. Last floor (5th floor) rooms were attic roof rooms with low ceilings which can be troublesome for some.
These rooms have balcony with distant view of sea. Cleanliness of the hotel was so so, our first room toilet was not clean and as we informed the receptionist, he stated that room service is not active till tomorrow! It is of note that the signs of wears and tears were visible in every corner of the room. On our second night, our rooms electrical system was jammed which resulted in a delayed room change. There are two 24/7 car parks near the hotel in case of car rental.

Nice location, nice staff, nice interior design, but our room was not clean enough when we arrived, specially the toilet and when we asked for a housekeeper to clean the toilet they said we have to wait till tomorrow, which was very disappointing. And also on our second night the toilet flush wouldn’t work and the room’s key card wouldn’t work which led to change the room at 2 am. The breakfast was alright, definitely not the best breakfast buffet in my experience but acceptable.

I stayed there for a week, i didn’t expect much as the hotels located around Taksim square are not usually ok, however, this experience changed my mind, the room was clean, shower and toilet clean and very good condition. Breakfast was good, wifi was a bit weak needs a couple of routers to make the signals stronger. Location is very good, close to main bus and Metro stations.
Among the great staff was Mr. Yasin Akdostu, who was very helpful, very friendly and nice. Other staff were also lovely. I definitely suggest this hotel to others.

Nice hotel but that's it. There is no soundproofing. We could hear everything from the other rooms and the hallway. Also, the balcony door in our room was broken, so there was a lot of noise from outside. We informed the reception from the first day but they did nothing. We were sleepless for 4 nights. One day before we left they said to us that maybe we could change room... No service. The last day I asked from the receptionist to call a taxi to the airport. He inform me that the trip to the airport costs 1000TL in cash or 1100TL with card. Fixed price. I accept that offer But the taxi driver, who cooperates with the hotel, when we arrived at the airport, he asked 1500TL.
The experience in Istanbul from the professionals (hotel, taxi, stores, sellers ...) was a complete disappointment.

I am not sure how this is a 4 start hotel. It’s an absolute nightmare. I checked in for 5 nights. The room was dirty and full of hair every where. The room smelled fresh paint. I asked them to clean the room and change it. They asked me to wait till next day to change the room. I was out of town. Came back in the evening to find myself in an even worse room (it’s like sleeping in a garage) with less paint smell

I checked out the next day. The receptionist was not even bothered to ask why I am leaving 3 days before my original checkout date.

Both porter’s (morning and evening shift) were good and polite and much professional than the receptionist.

The hotel was excellent and the staff were nice polite, and always really really helpful. We were there for 10 days and the breakfast was the best every single day with good variety. The staff were open to our needs. The room was clean but small and unfortunately the most negative point was the cooling system which did not work properly. The accessibility to the metro and restaurants was really good.Overall, I found it to be a worthwhile and pleasant experience.

Very stylish and modern design of rooms. Service is good. I wish I couldn’t hear people’s smallest talk behind the wall and their alarms early in the morning. Location is perfect!

When we arrived, the staff didnt help us to carry our luggage and we took it ourselves. They gave us a very small and depressing room that smelled strongly of sewage, and they changed our rooms and gave us a better room.
The thing that really bothers them is that the toilet and bathroom are made of glass, and it is suitable for the small size of the rooms because it has a view and through the glass, the air from the sewage enters the room, but the toilet was not standard, that is, it has no wall, it is like one person goes to the middle of the bedroom and sits on the toilet and the other person watches it. The bathroom does not matter, but the toilet should not be made of glass. OK, it's in a 6-meter room
The next point is that it was very dark, which means that it is better to set the macro light like this. I think it is better to install a series of lights for those who need more light.
I think the price is too high for the quality

I recently stayed at the Public Hotel in Istanbul and had a fantastic experience. The hotel has a beautifully decorated interior with an industrial style and I particularly loved the design of the rooms, especially the unique wall features. Everything was clean.

The breakfast was excellent, offering a wide range of items including Turkish meze, warm dishes, and various beverages.

The hotel’s location is ideal, just a short distance from Istiklal Street and with convenient access to public transportation. Despite being close to one of Istanbul's busiest areas, the hotel was surprisingly quiet.

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful throughout my stay. I highly recommend the Public Hotel for anyone looking to enjoy a comfortable and pleasant stay in Istanbul.

PROS
-Hotel is nicely decorated, they gave us a beverage upon check-in and communication was great between us and the hotel
-Rooftop room was spacious and we surprisingly never hit our heads on any beams
-Great location for shopping

CONS
-Bed was supposed to be a king, but it was not. It was bigger than a queen but it was an odd size.
-Bathroom/shower area was VERY small. Could barely turn around inside the bathroom. Water leaked out from the shower into the toilet area. Detachable shower head was broken and had a leak between the handle and where the hose connected so it never worked. Smallest bathroom I've ever seen
-Hotel did arrange our airport transfers but never let us know that it would need to be cash only when departing for our outbound flight the next morning. They did work with us but it would have been great to know this in advance since our transportation leaving for the airport was at 5 AM.
-NOISE! Noise from the street below continued well into the night and this was on a weekday. It was mostly music from somewhere on the street (we were on the 5th floor) and it did keep me up throughout the night.
-Rooftop terrace doesn't have too great of a view, but I expected that. The tiles could be cleaner out there.
-Curtains that blocked out the light from the terraces were somewhat broken so each side of the windows on both terraces had chunks of light coming through on each. We had to use our luggage to keep the curtains in place.
