Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

The property seems tired. We were in a room at the end of the hall so every time guests entered there was a loud door banging noise. Not very pleasant.

Okay, but not great.
Booked a two-night stay for our 5-year anniversary in one of the Estate Garden View Rooms. The room was disappointing; it was on the main floor (3rd floor) of their main building which meant it was LOUD. We could hear everything happening in the hallway at all hours of the day. And rather than looking out onto their beautiful garden courtyard, it had a view of the housing complex behind the hotel out the backside of the property. Not exactly the serene, quiet, anniversary weekend I was hoping for when I booked our room.

The hotel itself is beautiful and well maintained, and the room was nicely appointed. The staff was gracious and kind.

Food was just okay in the lobby bar and breakfast restaurant. We booked a couples massage a month in advance that was supposed to include the soaking tub, but didn't.

We live in San Diego, so this was a stay-cation for us. I would opt to stay at one of the many other luxury resorts in town next time.

Stayed over here as part of a buss trip. The grounds are nice and provide a relaxing vibe. During the chilly May month it was too cold to enjoy the evening more but I can imagine in the summer it must be rather nice. I loved the lobby layout, it looked fantastic with the fire in the middle. Staff were friendly everywhere. Parking expensive at almost 50$ to put just your car I find it exaggerated. There is breakfast available and a small shop for things on the go in case you need something. There was a wedding or something like that ongoing but that didn’t bother. I took in room dining some fish and it tasted great. For walking around you need your room card with you, as for every corridor you cross you need to scan your room card otherwise the door won’t open. A bit annoying if you need to cross 3-4 corridors and forgot your card (if one door was open or held open for you, and you realise after you forgot your card you are trapped in the middle). My biggest complaint however is that even though I had asked a quiet room, I was given a room facing the parking lot and not only that, the ventilation system in the room was so loud I have never had in any hotel. I slept with my noise cancellation headphones on. My colleagues in the neighbouring room had the same issue. Terrible and never again. Room 375.
