The Act Hotel

This place is a 5 star joke! If they've been given 5*, the reviewers were presumably not on their best day! Kitchen with nothing, no plates, bowls, cutlery, or even a frying pan! The jacuzzi was freezing cold (and that's why we booked here) toasty jacuzzi after long travel what we'll pay for. The freezer was so frosted over it needed 30 mins of chiselling by maintenance.

But clincher was needing a guy to fix the a/c at 230am! 5* to compete with the proppa 5*, these guys are dreaming. Hopeless...

I recently stayed at The Act Hotel and was disappointed with the overall experience, which fell short of the 5-star rating it claims to have.

Several issues became apparent during my stay, particularly with the condition of the room. The furniture quality was poor, with visible stains on the couches and chipping paint. It’s a smart hotel, but no instructions were provided on how to use anything other than the AC. Additionally, the switches were dirty, with a sticky substance on the walls, and some light switches were falling off the wall. These are not the standards you would expect from a high-end hotel!

In addition, basic amenities were missing from my Lagoon Suite, including robes, slippers, an iron, ironing board, cutlery, crockery, and cups for the kitchenette. Even the doorbell wasn’t working. I had to repeatedly request these items from housekeeping, which is unacceptable for a 5-star property. While the housekeeping team eventually provided these, it was frustrating to have to chase for basic amenities.

The spa and gym were also disappointing. Both facilities felt dirty and unkempt, and there was no shower gel available in the gym/spa showers. I was informed that I would need to get shower gel from my room, which isn’t the level of service I’d expect from a hotel of this supposed caliber.

Furthermore, despite this being a non-smoking hotel, my neighbors were smoking throughout my stay, and despite multiple complaints, the issue persisted.

On a positive note, the reception staff, particularly Ahmed, along with the valet team, housekeeping, and the lifeguard, were very friendly and professional. Their service was a bright spot in what was otherwise a subpar experience.

Overall, while the staff were great, the condition of the room, lack of basic amenities, and poor upkeep of the facilities made this stay far from the 5-star experience the hotel promises. I am puzzled as to how it maintains this rating.
