Reviews
While creatively designed, the hotel offers a fundamentally featureless and unwelcoming experience that falls well short of even basic hospitality standards. This impression was shared by friends, who were also staying at the property during the same period.
The property is defined by what it lacks: services or amenities. Guests should note that the lobby restaurant is no longer the 'Butcher' and decidedly unaffiliated with the hotel, a fact that both parties are quick to point this out.
Perhaps, though, it was the reception team's behavior that was the most bizarre aspect of the stay. The lone individuals camp out at the end of the large, shared work table in the lobby, yet each actively avoid eye contact or interaction with guests. They exhibited zero interest in assisting, acknowledging, or even greeting people entering or leaving the property. This odd dynamic makes the otherwise comfortably designed lobby feel inaccessible and hostile.
Furthermore, while my room was lovely, the housekeeping's attention to detail is severely lacking. The room was dirty and daily service appeared rushed, failing to meet standard levels of cleanliness or care. One day in particularly I received only partial cleaning service while my friend's rooms were not cleaned at all!
This collective experience with the brand was so profoundly bizarre that we have canceled our planned stay in the Family Suite at the Sir property in Barcelona. We have zero confidence that the brand can deliver basic service or hospitality after this consistently substandard stay.
A stay at the Sir Savigny demands total disengagement from the guest and zero amenities, delivering a truly unusual and disappointing stay.
The thing I didn't like at all was breakfast. It just stopped being served after one day!! Breakfast was being served the first morning, but it was really bad. Bad coffee, the smallest piece of old bread, orange juice from a box and some thing that represented fruit. I think.
After the first morning breakfast wasn't being served anymore!! We just had to find our own places to eat breakfast which left us with foodbills that quickly piled up after a few days.
Also the people in the restaurant next to this hotel (which I assumed was the same place) were very rude. Like really cranky and annoyed. I felt like a 3 year old doing something wrong just by asking something.
After we left we did get some of our cashback for the breakfast. We stayed 4 nights and we got € 64 back. That's the same as having breakfast once in the restaurants they send us to.
Also it was extremely hot in Berlin when we were here (days of 35 degrees). Airco couldn't keep up with the temperature so the room was very hot. No sleep there.
And at last the cleaningpeople took on of our roomkeys that we left in the room. Not a biggie, but why?
Overall a very underwhelming stay. It would have been nice if we really got a decent refund. Or we could give them the receipts of our breakfasts we had to pay for because they just stopped serving it.
The service from reception was the worst though. I agree with others who write here about the service. It's terrible and lousy! They show no interest at all. The woman ( dark hair) was ok and trying but the guy was weird. He doesn't smile, doesn't talk and feels like he's racist to be honest. Not good at all. I wish they were a little more welcoming and friendly, especially since they work in the hotel industry where service is the focus. Nothing wrong with the hotel but there's something strange about the staff at reception.
The guy who works at night was friendlier though.
Edit: The blond receptionist is lovely and she’s super friendly!
Sir hotels are usually known for their chic and hip designs, and while this one tries to follow that trend, it’s not very practical. The sink is oddly placed right next to the bed, and the shower door drips water on the wooden floor when opened, which was frustrating. The room itself was also very small, which added to the overall discomfort.
Honestly, for the price, I’m not too upset, but I am disappointed. It doesn’t live up to the standard of other Sir Collection hotels. It feels more like a 3-star hotel, or maybe a very fancy hostel. I wouldn’t say I don’t recommend it, but definitely don’t book it if you’ve stayed at other Sir hotels and expect the same level of quality.
Perfect location, with hundreds of restaurants nearby and right next to the robust public transportation network. Tasty breakfast with multiple live-cooked meals to choose from, so different from your typical bland hotel fair!
We will stay here again when we return to Berlin and try other Sir locations.
The hotel is full of character and boasts a courtyard garden that is ideal to relax in after a busy day of exploring.
Breakfast options are excellent with a good choice and everything is cooked and presented to perfection.
Dan and his front of house team are great - friendly and keen to help you make the most of your trip to Berlin.
Donna and I will definitely be staying here again - hopefully next time without her boot!
hence no EV charger for your vehicle.
strong and stable wifi
the room was covered with dust in some areas.
wasn’t sure if that was kind of the vibes as there were supposed stains on the table and leather cushions as well.
sights in the area are in walking distance.
breakfast was good. with basic options to choose from and egg dishes cooked to order.
