I ’d absolutely recommend staying at the Eibsee Hotel and will probably find my way back there someday. The location is obviously incredible - right on the lake with gorgeous views in every direction.
I was really pleasantly surprised by the food. Breakfast had a ton of variety, the afternoon snack was more than enough to count as lunch, and both restaurants served truly excellent dinners. Great wine selection, too.
The service was top notch. Everyone was so friendly, helpful, and on top of things. I didn’t have any trouble at all as an English speaker.
The spa was super relaxing and bigger than I expected—I especially loved the quiet room with a view of the lake. There are so many cozy spots around the hotel to just sit, breathe, and enjoy the scenery.
It’s a beautiful, peaceful place that really delivers on both comfort and experience.

Love the surrounding nature, the breakfast buffet was always a delight, a big thumbs up 👍🏻 to the egg station chef! All the staff were extremely attentive and super nice. We had a fantastic weekend getaway.

The location of the Eibsee Hotel is undeniably stunning - right by the lake, with breathtaking views and easy access to nature walks and hikes. However, our overall experience did not live up to the expectations one would have of a 4-star establishment. We've stayed at several other 4-star hotels and resorts in the past, and unfortunately, this one fell short in terms of service quality.
While the restaurant staff were warm and welcoming, the reception service left much to be desired. A particularly unpleasant incident involved a staff member (possibly a manager, which is worse) who approached us in an extremely rude manner, assuming we were not hotel guests. It was only after his colleague informed him that we were indeed staying at the hotel that the situation was clarified - yet no apology was offered. This interaction felt not only unprofessional but also dismissive, especially given that we were well-presented and had simply returned from a hike and freshened up before dinner.
It was hard to ignore the contrast in how other guests - particularly white or German individuals, were treated with noticeably more courtesy. This disparity in treatment was disappointing and left us with the impression that the hotel may not often host people of color, or is perhaps not accustomed to doing so with the same level of hospitality.
Despite the beautiful setting and some positive elements, our experience was tainted by this unfortunate interaction. For that reason, we would not choose to return or recommend the hotel to others looking for a welcoming and inclusive stay.

We had a wonderful 4-day stay at Eibsee Hotel! Everything was perfect for our family. The food was delicious—even our 3-year-old daughter enjoyed every meal!
The staff were friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with anything we needed.

We recently had an unfortunate experience at this hotel. My pregnant wife and I were waiting for a bus nearby, and everything around was closed. We decided to step inside the hotel’s restaurant to warm up, have a bit of water and drink some coffee.
However, the young man at the reception told us that the restaurant was strictly for hotel guests. While we understood this rule, we were taken aback when we asked to use the restroom - especially considering my wife’s condition - and were told that restrooms were also only for hotel guests. He insisted that only guests with a room card could access them.
I completely understand that hotels have their own policies, but I believe that in situations like this, a little human kindness goes a long way.
However, the young man at the reception told us that the restaurant was strictly for hotel guests. While we understood this rule, we were taken aback when we asked to use the restroom - especially considering my wife’s condition - and were told that restrooms were also only for hotel guests. Amazing views from the hotel restaurant and patios. We opted for the cheapest room with forest views... but still enjoyed the food and views from the rest of the hotel.
Breakfast, lunch snack, and dinner were some of the best meals of our entire trip.
Hiking around the lake was beautiful in the morning. (We also went out in the afternoon but it was much more crowded.)

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Massage was great as was the sauna and dip into the lake. Going to the top of the highest peak in Germany was fun and only a walk from the hotel to the gondola. Restaurant staff did a marvelous job with providing good and varied food items given my multiple allergies.

Hospitality is subpar, but it’s mostly due to seasonal employees I would guess. Just don’t expect four seasons, but once again…the views and lake are worth any bad service. The staff does try, and succeeds in some ways so do not put much weight into my words.
Food: breakfast is 10/10 buffet, snack is 7/10, and dinner is 7/10.
Location: the zugsitze is gorgeous, forever a memory to see. The lake is 10/10, one of the best in the world to view and swim. The walking paths around lake and property are amazing. Free bikes, kayaks, and recreational toys.
Overall: I will come here for the rest of my life. This was a forever memory hotel for the location.

Great place to stay during vacation.
Sauna, pool, steam bath, sun terrace, private hotel beach with loungers, pedal boats etc. all included.
The meals in the restaurant could be better. For sure, I also prefer to order my meals, but you have to get it by yourself.
You also have to sign when something to drink is brought to you, including your room number.
The elevators are simply bad in terms of service.
In my opinion the hotel is good, but too expensive.

I recently stayed at Eibsee hotel, and my experience was a mix of highs and lows.
Pros:
1) Staff: The staff were nice and kind, and also helpful throughout my stay.
2) Prime Location: The location is unparalleled, just on top of lake Eibsee and below the tallest mountain in Germany. scoring a solid 11 out of 10! It's truly a dream location for any traveler
3) Facilities: Fantastic refreshing pool to the rejuvenating spa. Additionally, the spacious and immaculately clean rooms provided a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration.
Cons:
1) Food: We didn’t have the option to a reservation without meals, so we reserved a a 4-day vacation with breakfast and diner included, and thought we are going to eat at a nice, quality restaurant. We couldn’t be more wrong.
While breakfast was satisfactory, the lack of vegetables, and salads was noticeable. However, the real letdown was dinner. Despite the high expectations due to the hotel's price point, the food quality was below average and lacked variety. Moreover, the requirement to pay separately for beverages, INCLUDING WATER, was disappointing and even somewhat controversial.
Overall, our stay at Eibsee was excellent due to the magnificent location and landscapes, but the dining experience detracted from the overall satisfaction. If you have an option to reserve only rooms without meals I would definitely recommend it!
