Reviews
Pros:
1) Staff: The staff were nice and kind, and also helpful throughout my stay.
2) Prime Location: The location is unparalleled, just on top of lake Eibsee and below the tallest mountain in Germany. scoring a solid 11 out of 10! It's truly a dream location for any traveler
3) Facilities: Fantastic refreshing pool to the rejuvenating spa. Additionally, the spacious and immaculately clean rooms provided a comfortable retreat after a day of exploration.
Cons:
1) Food: We didn’t have the option to a reservation without meals, so we reserved a a 4-day vacation with breakfast and diner included, and thought we are going to eat at a nice, quality restaurant. We couldn’t be more wrong.
While breakfast was satisfactory, the lack of vegetables, and salads was noticeable. However, the real letdown was dinner. Despite the high expectations due to the hotel's price point, the food quality was below average and lacked variety. Moreover, the requirement to pay separately for beverages, INCLUDING WATER, was disappointing and even somewhat controversial.
Overall, our stay at Eibsee was excellent due to the magnificent location and landscapes, but the dining experience detracted from the overall satisfaction. If you have an option to reserve only rooms without meals I would definitely recommend it!
Breakfast is highly recommended. It had aot of options and all of good quality. Egg station had a friendly chef making eggs of preference right in front. Restaurant is with a perfect view to the lake. Likewise, sauna and swimming pool alao have the perfect view to the mountains and the Eibsee lake.
Sauna area was nice, super clean and well equipped.
We were denied entry to the premise when this man, security guard, cleaner or some sort claiming this a private property and yelled at us to leave. After driving 2 hours from Munich. All we needed was to relieve ourselves.
Do train your staff to be kinder.
Only feedback is that the restaurant is a bit under staff, so sometimes it takes longer to get help.
With our booking, we had breakfast, afternoon snack (between 2pm and 4pm) and dinner included. There was plenty of choice and the menu translated in English was a nice touch, since our German is very rudimentary. The food was very good, although we would have liked more available fruit (mainly during the afternoon snack and dinner, when no fruit was available). The staff is 5 stars, everyone was very professional but also welcoming and nice.
There's an indoor heated pool, which must be great in colder months, and spa facilities, which we didn't try, because our main focus was the lake. There are also plenty of activities for kids, as we saw a kids club, the pool is kind friendly and there's even a cinema!
The best thing was the lake. The hotel has a privileged location and the views are just amazing. The water is so clear and the colours so beautiful, you have to be there to fully understand what everyone means after visiting Eibsee. There are many sunbeds available for guests and the hotel provides free SUP and kayaks, which is a big plus. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves with water sports and activities. There are also pedal boats (don't know if they're free or not, since you can also rent them nearby, but I think the hotel provides 2 for their guests). The hotel also arranged for a boat tour of the lake, and we had a package that included another one as well (in addition to an ice cream pass).
We parked our car on the main parking lot near the Zugspitze cable car, as the hotel parking was unavailable, and we didn't have to pay anything, it was included with the reservation as well.
Overall, we had an amazing time here, it's a beautiful, beautiful lake and hotel, a great value for money considering where you are and what you have included, a wonderful team (from the reception, to the restaurant, to the cleaning staff, everyone!), and you just possibly can't be disappointed. We drove almost 6 hours to get here (and back), and it was so worth it!
Magical, wonderful!!!
Half board including afternoon snack and a single room made it affordable when otherwise it would have been out of my price range.
The room had a good view of the rainbow over the lake.
Highly recommend the trail to walk around the Eibsee. About 7 kilometers with plenty of benches to stop for a break and enjoy nature. God willing we will be back for each of my birthdays in the future. Our server presented me with a birthday cake on my birthday.
