AR Roca Esmeralda & Spa Hotel

The hotel is nice, close to the beach. But I was most impressed by the staff members, especially by Maria from the kitchen because of her kindness and care towards the guests. Thank you all! 🫶

The bar staff could be more friendly ! Especially about the happy hour ‘ it was drama each time we asked !

The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful throughout. The food was good. Everything was clean and well kept. The children loved the entertainment and the entertainment staff were lovely.

Negatives - the rooms are dated, the glass coffee tables are a hazard (we have the bruises to attest to this) and dinner starts too late at 8pm

My wife and I stayed for a week in early November, the hotel was excellent, lovely and clean, staff were all lovely and approachable, even with my limited Spanish, communication was no problem. The buffet style meals were 1st class, plentiful and delicious.
Access to the beach is excellent too, virtually on the doorstep of the hotel.
One review stated a lack of kettle, etc, we had no problem a kind request to reception and a kettle was there on return to our room.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we are booked to return in late April.

Absolutely amazing views from the hotel balcony. .rooms are very spacious,
housekeeping every day if you want it , hotel clean and tidy.
Reception staff very helpful, helped to rent a car for the week for us , definitely recommend asking at reception, simple and an easy process.
Half board , breakfast and evening meal, lots of variety of food and desserts.

Rooms are spacious. Only downside the beds are not that comfy, but for the amount of time you are in them, I suppose it's not a problem.

it's local to 2 big supermarkets so that you can get waters and treats if needed or food if your self catering.

The beach and sea is about 10 steps out of the Hotel , as I say you can see it from the balcony of the hotel.

No kettles in the rooms but on check In, if you ask if you can have a kettle they will provide you one, just remember to take some tea bags and a cup , but the supermarket is local so not a problem to buy them while your there.

Great area for cyclist's, I would say more cycling than cars in calpe , definitely a cyclist's paradise 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Lots of places to visit, if you hire a car or book a trip from the reception area.

Absolutely recommend to stay at this hotel, lovely friendly staff and a great location..x

We have stayed self catering in the esmerelda for 4 weeks during jan/feb.
Self-catering apartments are adjacent to the hotel but you can use all the hotel facilities, such as indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym.
This review is based on the Self-catering apartments, not the hotel.
When have been to the hotel it is clean spacious and staff are very helpful and friendly.
They do have live entertainment in the hotel but cannot comment as we did not go.
The Self-catering apartments are very spacious but basic. However they do have everything you need for a self catering holiday.
Small TV that does have ITV,ITV2, did have BBC but this stopped due to British issues.
Cooking facilities include microwave, 4 cooking rings and a toaster. No oven, but its enough to make simple meals.
Plenty storage space in the bedroom, large balcony with sunbeds table and chairs and added bonus of a washing machine.
Supermarket is 3-4 mins walk. Supermarkets are closed on Sundays.
Beach is 5 mins walk with bars and restaurants all along the front.
During Jan many restaurants are closed for their holidays, but getting towards feb,many were opening up.
Negative points- many of the apartments appear to be being sold off to private buyers so often building noise was heard. If you have families with children above you it can get noisy.
General information is lacking inside the apartments, ie: how to use the washer(its in spanish) how to use the heating,when linen will be changed, they deliver sheets and you have to make up beds yourself.
They provide,towels,shampoo,soap,tea towels but not toilet rolls.

We actually stayed in the apartment blocked just up the road from the hotel, it was a 2 bedroom apartment, very spacious and well equipped.
The bed was very hard and made for an uncomfortable night sleep.
The hotel staff were very friendly and made check in very easy.
The bar was nice with great bar staff.
The pools were good and private from the main street.
