Best Western Plus Hôtel Brice Garden

I will start with the positives - the staff and location. Every staff member we engaged with during our recent 3-night stay was professional, friendly and helpful. If I were rating on staff alone, this would be a 5-star review. The location was very close to the beach, but was a bit farther from the tourist destinations in town. A walk to the port where we took a boat tour was close to a 30-minute walk. We never took public transportation during our stay, and don’t mind walking, but if you are staying with someone who struggles with mobility this location may not be that great unless you take a cab.

The reason for the lower star rating was the condition of our room. The carpet was stained and the furniture was very worn down, scuffed and did not look anything close to that of a 4 star hotel (we had just come from a 4-star hotel in Cannes that was amazing). The worst part of the room was the overwhelming sewer smell which was coming from the bathroom. When we inquired at the front desk we were told that it was a problem with the city sewer system and they could not do anything about it. During our stay the fumes gave us headaches and just really detracted from our visit. We spoke with guests in other hotels and they did not have a similar experience, so I’m not sure how prevalent a problem it is in Nice.

We were thoroughly disappointed with the state of the rooms. The room was old and unkempt. The furniture was worn out, the walls were scuffed, and the carpets were stained and smelled.For the price, we expected a much more modern and clean environment.
The air conditioning unit was incredibly noisy.
The rooms need a serious overhaul, and until they do, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The staff were very understanding and gave us a room upgrade but we ended up booking another hotel. This hotel does not look any better than a 2 star hotel. Highly overpriced for the standard of room. Looks nothing like the photos online.
