Mercure Paris Gare Montparnasse TGV

Comfortable beds (and particularly good pillows), but overall the rooms are basic, dated, and worn. In particular, the bathrooms need completely replacing. Rude housekeeping staff.

Room was average at best, spacious enough though. Breakfast buffet had plenty to offer, and hotel is in walking distance of a nearby pharmacie, grocery store and restaurant. The direct view of the Eiffel Tower largely makes up for any lack of quality in the hotel though, you can see it from the very front of the hotel!

Generally most of the things were fine - good location, very welcoming and professional staff, good breakfast, and (as usual with Mercure) good bed. But: no ventilation. None. It was still "winter" (in fact: quite warm outside) - and therefore: absolutely no ventilation.
Some rooms (looking to courtyard) have windows which can be opened. Rooms with external view: no opening windows. Hotel needs to fix this in future. The room was really stuffy and too warm.
(The staff did offer to change room but I was already settled and it was too much hassle for just one night)

Opposite my room, there was a service room, which made so much noise every freakin day in the morning around, sounding like moving huge furniture and banging the doors. The cleaner opened my room door right after a simple knock on the door without getting my permission. I have booked 3 nights, only the first night was occupied by 2 people, the rest of the 2 nights were supposed to be occupied by 1 person. The hotel had calculated 3 nights for 2 people including breakfast, even after I told the reception it was only one occupied. The facility is in general very old, the bathtub drain is very slow. The room indicated that you can see the Eifel Tower view doesn't value for the money you pay, because the building next to it actually can block most of the view, and the rooms next to it were super noisy. I had already paid during my stay, but when I checked out the receptionist insisted that I hadn't paid for the tourist tax which I had already done, until I had shown a printed invoice then I could leave. I was not satisfied with why such payment details were not stored in their system.
