How do you describe perfection?
We booked a Junior Suite at the beginning of May and arrived at Elounda Gulf Suites — only to discover we’d been upgraded to a stunning private villa with our own pool!

The resort is beautifully designed to blend with the sea views. There’s a private beach with a shuttle and bar, a gorgeous infinity pool, and a rich, delicious breakfast.

The villa was luxurious and completely private — but the real highlight was the service.
Danny, Konstantin, and George made us feel truly cared for, with warmth and attention to every detail — and the entire staff was just as wonderful.

The village of Elounda is nice but not particularly exciting — luckily, there are charming villages and great tavernas just a short drive away.

Elounda Gulf Suites is a dream getaway.
5 stars just aren’t enough 🙂

The hotel rooms and pool are pretty nice(although the tub takes almost an hour to fill), mixed with some extremely bad service. We are actually currently staying here, and have been in Greece traveling the past month staying at other 5 star hotels along our journey. Before I speak of why I wouldn't stay here again due to service , let me do say that there are three amazing stand out employees, Our server (at dinner last night and in the day during pool bar service (both males)). George our driver was by far the best most attentive employee and any property would be lucky to have him. Thank you George! However, the worst service is the lady at the pool service is very off-putting and comes across as rude for the simplest requests like politely asking for towels or a food menu. Service is very slow and unprofessional for a five star hotel for the majority of the workers minus the ones mentioned that we've been in contact with. Front desk attendant told us at checkin one of the members of our party couldn't take her champagne to her room and to use the bathroom in the lobby. The next day, another front desk receptionist told some ladies of the party there is no bathroom. Consistency here is not close to other 5 star hotels stay elsewhere until customer service has been addressed. NOT IMPRESSED - Very overpriced for what you don't receiveat this property.

Rooms looked great in the photos but in real life they are a bit dated. We got "upgraded" to a villa that didn't have any views or charm. In general - suites and the villas are wildly overpriced 30-50% off they would be at a fair value.

This very special villa/suite hotel is like a corner of paradise. We had a villa with its own infinity pool, it was luxurious and very private. The facilities are great, with a main pool and comfortable sun beds. Everything is provided for the comfort of guests. The views are spectacular and the grounds well kept and attractive. Don’t worry about the hill, golf buggies are on hand to run you around. The breakfast is incredible, from smoke salmon to fabulous fruit platters, a huge range of bread and pastries and plenty of hot options; even do it yourself mimosas. The beach club is perfect with a minibus on hand to take you to and from the hotel. However, what really makes this place special is the staff. They cannot do enough for you and are exceptional. Elounda itself is utterly charming with a range of shops and fabulous restaurants. It is walkable (about 30 mins downhill) but get one of the very smart Mercedes taxis back - 11 euros. We were sad to leave and will definitely be going back!

Everything was perfect!
We had a wonderful stay at Elounda Gulf Villas. The suite was luxurious, clean, and beautifully maintained. A special mention to the guys at the bar — their service was exceptional and truly made our experience unforgettable. Thank you for the amazing hospitality!

The good
Staff were all super friendly, breakfast was great with good variety and I always appreciate a breakfast with smoked/cured salmon and option to order a double espresso to start the morning. I felt that all the public areas felt fresh and it looked very sleek. Helpful with the luggages being golf cart driven at check in and check out, although needed for the hillside villa layout.

The poor
The parking lot is towards the top of the facilities so every morning going to the car felt like a trekk in the heat as the villas are on a hill. Not a problem if you stay in the resort but we didnt.

Saltwater pool, would have preferred chlorinated. Size was otherwhise great with good views.

Staff meeting where the general manager feed back to staff should really be held somewhere where guests cant hear this. Two consecutive days there were feedback commentary after breakfast at the restaurant and close to where we still sat. Not appropriate for a 5 star.

The bad
Whilst the room were spacious and felt decadent, our room (nemesis) was clearly not well maintained for a 5 star. Lots of paint splashes at the edges of the walk in wardrobe and bathroom made it feel less than fresh. No issues with the bed room or living room but its these details that made it feel less decadent. The whole room also felt like it had a layer of dust when we got in so the slippers helped but again such details shouldnt have been felt. The worse culprit was the middle of the bathroom which had marble tiles that clearly had been worne off, so that the underlying food or flooring was exposed with whatever glue or fixing that were being chipped off everytime we walked over it or even cleaners clean it. Not impressed by that and that room and area really needs to be looked over.

High expectations for a 5 star but some serious letdown of the given room, and some really well executed areas.

We had a very peaceful and relaxing holiday at EGV. We were given an upgrade to a villa that was really spacious and had the most fabulous infinity pool and spectacular views. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, special thanks to the restaurant staff who were very attentive. The selection of food on the breakfast buffet was extensive and beautifully presented. We would have preferred a set menu or a la carte for dinner rather than a buffet, but the food on the buffet was of a high standard, a good selection, well cooked and very flavoursome. The desserts were much the same every day, so some variety would have been good. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and hope to visit again.

From the moment we arrived at Elounda Gulf Villas for a short part of our honeymoon, I knew I’d found something special. Nestled on a serene hillside overlooking the sparkling Gulf, this 5-star boutique resort is a masterclass in luxury, hospitality, and authentic Cretan charm. If you’re seeking a tranquil escape that blends world-class amenities with personalized service, look no further—this place is a dream come true.

The check-in was seamless, with a warm welcome from the staff. My villa, one of their signature Spa Pool Villas, was an absolute haven. Spacious, elegantly designed with modern Cretan touches, it featured a private infinity pool that seemed to blend into the sea beyond.

Dining at Argo Restaurant was a highlight. The menu showcased the best of Cretan cuisine, with fresh, farm-to-table ingredients that burst with flavor; George makes great cocktails and offered us some recommendations for things to do and places to try in the nearby city while offering to make reservations for us. The breakfast buffet, served until a leisurely 11:30 AM, provided you with many options as well as the option of a la carte if requested.

The Spa was the cherry on top. Vasilika provided us with complimentary 25 minute massages which allowed for us to relax halfway through our trip. They also provide a sauna and steam bath as well as a small gym/jacuzzi area.

What truly sets Elounda Gulf Villas apart is the staff- everyone went above and beyond. They struck the perfect balance—attentive without being intrusive, and always with genuine smiles. Despina provided us with local recommendations, as well as made reservations for us and ensured our transfers were made seamless. Upon our departed (which was early) we received breakfast boxes for the next morning and had a golf cart waiting at our villa to take us to the taxi at reception. Like previously mentioned- planned seamlessly. Also a special shout out to Isidoros, Angela, and Louisa.

The resort’s location is ideal for exploring Crete’s eastern coast. The charming village of Elounda, with its lively tavernas and fishing harbor, is just a short drive away, and the historic sites of Agios Nikolaos are easily accessible. Yet the villas feel like a world unto themselves, offering peace and privacy that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Elounda Gulf Villas isn’t just a hotel—it’s a love letter to Crete’s beauty and hospitality. I’m already counting the days until I can return to this idyllic retreat. Book it, and prepare to be enchanted.

We just finished a week stay with my pregnant wife and 2.5 year old daughter. As with any holiday with a toddler there are inevitably ups and downs and the EGV team couldn’t have been more considerate, helpful and caring. The chef made delicious off menu pasta and omelettes for our daughter and Athina was incredibly sweet and sensitive at the kids club, doing painting and Easter crafts. George made superb cocktails and mocktails for us and some fresh strawberries for our daughter and Constantinos and the restaurant team couldn’t have been more supportive. Maria and the front desk team were lovely and had lots of very helpful advice and we didn’t have any of the additional charges that other guests have spoken of with the previous management. The lovely warm pool with our room was at no extra charge and the views from it were spectacular. I’d also recommend the beautiful trail walk around the opposite peninsula - Spinalogkas. It’s totally unspoiled and has such a magical feel to it. We had a great trip and would come back again.

Overpriced, simple food selection, no room service at all (although stated on this 5-star hotel’s website)! Our 8-night stay in the 5-star Hotel „Elounda Gulf Villas“ in Crete, Greece, was the most disappointing and stressful vacation experience ever. It started with a different room than booked/confirmed, because it was occupied by other guests. Their so-called „upgrade“ because of the unavailable room, was a clear downgrade for us. We asked them why the „upgrade“, and they said because they are not fully booked and wanted to do us a favour. But we complained and insisted to get our booked/confirmed/pre-paid room and only then they honestly said that someone else got our room. So our first day/night was not relaxing at all. After talking to the manager on the 2nd day and as the other guests checked-out we were luckely able to move into our booked room around 3pm on day 2.  Here is a list of the other issues: - no room-service at all!! - not even a mini-bar in the villa - lunch only till 4pm, then 3 hours break and dinner (simple, small buffet) from 7pm - for lunch they ONLY serve a club-sandwich and a greek salat, AT EVERY SINGLE DAY!! - the breakfast buffet (from 8:30-11:30) offered a solid 3- to 4-stars hotel selection, without á la carte options you typically get in a 5-star hotel - first 5-star hotel we visited in our life without any sparkling wine or champagne at breakfast, no french toast, no eggs benedict, nothing to order besides the breakfast buffet. Also usually 5-star hotels have that certain extra, the little details, but they not even recognized/wished us a Happy Birthday although we augmented our villa with respective decoration - the dinner buffet offered a very small selection of food, nothing á la carte - they forgot to refill our in-room coffee capsules at 2 days (we had to call them twice, after waiting 30 minutes, to get it) - the in-room safe actually is a joke; it was just loose in the wardrobe and you can take it with you; I‘m not kidding  - the prices at the hotel’s Argo Restaurant and Pool Bar for drinks/lunch/dinner are 3x to 5x higher than the prices we experienced in the other close 5-star hotels where we enjoyed awesome food/drinks since we wanted to eat fresh local meat and fish (which seems almost impossible at the Elounda Gulf Villas) - besides the disappointing hotel, you cannot rely on the opening hours of the Elounda‘s supermarkets/minimarkets and it took us 1 hour from hotel to the next open minimarket and back to buy some food and drinks - basically we were trapped in a never-seen „vacation“-situation with more distress than at work. We had to complain 8 times in the first 3 days and then got sick of complaining and went out to the handful of other 5-star hotels (that are in walking distance) to eat & drink.  - It was not worth the money and I personally suffered due to the very limited healthy food options at our hotel. - our 9th complaint was actually on the final day since we asked to pickup our 4 heavy p
