Grand Blue Beach Hotel

Whilst the hotel complex is nice, it is definitely NOT a 5 star hotel. The resort and rooms are kept clean, but the rooms are very dated especially the bathroom. The shower is the biggest letdown, badly positioned over a thin panel’d bath and no shower cubicle even though this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. We had 4 rooms in our group and each shower was exactly the same). 3 swimming pools to choose from and a close by shingle beach. The complex is on a steep hill but they do have a buggy service. Food was good, but would like to have seen more traditional Greek food. Only a short stroll to the town centre which is very nice.

Overall Experience We generally enjoyed our stay, though I’m honestly puzzled by the hotel’s 5-star rating. I hope management reads this review and views it as constructive feedback. The grounds are stunning, and with improvements to service and overall management, this place could truly deserve a 5-star status. Arrival Our stay started off on a disappointing note. When we arrived at reception around 10 PM, we were told the restaurant was closed but would receive a “lunchbox” instead. After waiting 40 minutes for a buggy to take us to our room, the lunchbox arrived an hour later—consisting of two dry, unappetizing sandwiches each, barely more than stale bread with ham and cheese. For an all-inclusive, I’ve never seen such a poor late-night option. Many hotels keep part of their buffet open or at least offer simple snacks like chips or nuggets for late arrivals. Even some fruit or biscuits would have been better than this. Restaurant The biggest issue here is a clear lack of management. The buffet was chaotic: there was rarely table service for drinks, we often had to ask for tables to be cleaned and cutlery provided, and dirty plates were left uncleared. They frequently ran out of essentials like clean plates, cups, orange juice, and coffee, causing guests to wait for restocks. The food, though limited in variety, was generally decent quality. However, there was little fresh fish or seafood, and the fruit selection was disappointing. Meals were repetitive, with very similar offerings at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wouldn’t recommend the A La Carte restaurant—it serves the same buffet dishes but with poorer service. There’s nothing suitable for children; the sandwiches are large, hard baguettes that kids simply can’t eat. Entertainment The entertainment team was the worst we’ve encountered. The mini disco repeated the same eight songs every evening, performed by two staff members who appeared disinterested and rarely smiled. There was no engagement, and they seemed completely unsuited for the job. Given the small stage by the lower pool, there’s real potential for better daytime activities, especially for kids, but none were offered. The adult entertainment program was also underwhelming, with staff seeming bored and unmotivated. On a positive note, some of the external evening shows were enjoyable. Grounds, Pools & Rooms This was the highlight of our stay. The hotel and grounds were spotless and beautifully maintained. Our spacious family room had a lovely terrace with views of the mountains, village, and sea. The pools cater well to different vibes—the upper pool is relaxed and chic with stunning views, while the lower pool is livelier, though marred by poor entertainment. The kids enjoyed their pool area immensely. We never had trouble finding sunbeds, and the hotel never felt overcrowded. Definitely not a 4 plus, or 5 star hotel. More like a 3 star.
Lovely location near to the beautiful town but the food left quite a bit to be desired. The staff do their best and are very nice but there seems to be a management issue whereby quite often certain choice of food missing for periods of time, cutlery missing etc.
Room was a decent size with great view but cleaning was sporadic and not great.
