Maleme Mare Hotel

A quiet place, friendly service, and clean. My fiancé and I stayed there between June and July 2021. We had a room overlooking a beautiful garden from the sea. It was clean, air-conditioned, had a bathroom, a small kitchenette, and a balcony. Room cleaning and towel changes were provided upon request—we didn't have to remind them; a hanger on the door handle was sufficient. Delicious food, plenty of choice. Gloves and masks were required when eating in the restaurant's serving section. The beach is pebbly and rocky, the water is clear, and sun loungers are available for an additional fee. Turtle nests have been noted on the shore and near the hotel. A great starting point for the west coast.

Probably the best food in western Crete. We tried several different restaurants in Rethymno and in the villages, but Maleme Mare offers more delicious cuisine than anywhere else we've been on the island. Homemade olive oil and fresh vegetables, delicious bread, delicious main courses. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Thank you for this wonderful experience. We recommend upgrading from a single-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom apartment. Especially with a sea view - see the photos. Probably the best food in western Crete. This Hotel is a real joy to visit and stay at. The entire staff is amazing and super friendly, heartwarming and very helpful and supportive. We loved this one from first greetings to the final goodbye 🌺🌺🌺👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️🍺🍺🍺🍺Simply a must stay and visit.

It's a great hotel with great and helpful staff, always smiling and with good energy, our family been more then happy for our stay here, I'm sure we will come back again 😀 😊 definitely a place to visit, you have beach 30 meters from the hotel too. Two pools, fitness center what's not to like 😎🌞 great buffet with loads of new dishes each day. They also went in a extra bit and celebrated me and my wife's birtday with cake and drinks 🍸 😄

Wow where do I start. We arrived at past midnight and Stavros was waiting outside to greet us and had saved us some food. Each and every staff member were friendly and extremely helpful. We would like to give a massive shout out to Aris who made an effort with us each day, what a lovely guy and we feel as though we’ve left with a friend. 3 nights a week there’s entertainment on at the bar. Sasha is always working hard and there’s a big selection of cocktails in the evening. By the end of the night everyone is up dancing and laughing. The food is perfectly presented and huge selection. Salads, soup, pasta, pie, freshly cooked meats to name a few. We especially enjoyed the giros and bbq evening. Stavros greeting everyone on bbq night with shots of raki was a lovely touch. Plenty of sun lounges which are really comfy, beach towels are also provided. The hotel is beautifully presented and clean, with cleaners and maintenance workers working all day taking pride in the areas. Our room was spacious, comfy beds and great view from the balcony. I recommend watching the sunrise on the beach if you’re an early riser, very peaceful start to the day. Also the sun sets on the other side of the beach with is also beautiful. Overall we had an amazing week at Maleme Mare. We would highly recommend it if you’re after a week of relaxing in this friendly, family feel hotel.

Just returned from a 2 week holiday here & what a fabulous time we had. Was greeted on arrival (early hours of the morning) with food & drinks served which we thought was such a nice touch. Food was good & the chefs were great, always greeted you & always smiling. Very clean hotel with the friendliest staff, they couldn’t do enough for you, special mention to Aris who is so friendly with all guests & had such good banter with him, we loved seeing him around! Also Sasha behind the bar was so friendly & always smiling. Eleanor (receptionist) she is so funny, made us laugh every day! Rooms are spacious & very clean, loved that the shower & toilet were separates. We nearly changed our hotel due to reading reviews saying it was quiet but so glad we didn’t. The bus is approx 40 minutes to Chania & only 2.50 euros per adult. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Where to start. A lovely hotel in a quiet and peaceful area with exceptional staff who cannot do enough for you. Rooms are nice and clean and there is plenty of space. Buffet food with plenty of choice. Entertainment 3 times a week which was nice. 2 swimming pools though would recommend the one with the children's pool as it does catch the sun well from around 12pm. The beach just over the road though is a pebble beach so it can be a little uncomfortable to walk barefoot. A couple of supermarkets and restaurants are 5 minutes walk away, and the main bus stop about 10 minutes steady walk away across from the Synca supermarket. The bus does get cramped and hot so I would recommend taking a bottle of water with you.

Where to start …after learning that the resort was quiet we were going to change our booking ..so so glad we didn’t !! The hotel is amazing, lovely big rooms which are cleaned daily by the staff , which leads me to mention all the staff , every single one of them were warm , welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you . Special mentions to Eleanor on reception ( give this girl a raise !) who made us giggle every day , and to our boy from the valleys Aris, what a wonderful human he is , putting up with our banter (and matching it 😂) he’s brilliant with young and old alike , we left feeling like family , and that’s the beauty of a smaller hotel . This isn’t a party town but is great for a base to explore and we will definitely be back , the beachfront location , food and rooms made this the perfect holiday , would highly recommend! ❤️

Just back from wonderful stay at Maleme mare hotel. Very good hotel, pebble beach but we loved it. Excellent facilities, large, comfortable and very clean room, all the staff (cleaners, serving staff, barman, receptionist..) were very friendly and helpful. Great variety of food, tasty and including local Greek foods which like very much. We’ll Located too , chania is easily reachable buy local buses. Definitely recommend it.
