Large resort hotel in Platanias village right next to the beach. The hotel is spread over a huge area, with many room types to choose from in several buildings. There are several smaller and larger pools between the buildings, which are not heated. Unfortunately, hotel guests "reserve" the sunbeds in the morning, so it often happened that although there was no one in the pools and around them, we still couldn't find a free sunbed.

The sea-view rooms are spacious and have a kitchenette. Their terraces open onto the hotel's beach or a small fishing port. There are also rooms overlooking the pools or the main road or in quieter corners of the hotel.
The staff is polite, helpful, and friendly.
The service includes breakfast and all-inclusive. We paid for breakfast. The breakfast buffet offers a range of dishes in line with general European trends, supplemented by a few Greek specialties.
Hotel guests also have access to a moderately equipped fitness room and a spa area available for a fee.
We spent a very pleasant week in the off-season at the hotel. Thank you!

We were moved from the village resort to the beach resort due to being under subscribed at the end of the season. We were worried as we booked there for the water park but on jet 2 looking into it they were keeping the park open with the rest of the resort shutting. Fine print though states both resorts have to pay extra for the water park at €15 per person. We did use it one day and as the resort was shut there was only one other family there, only downside was we couldn’t use the shop as it had closed down for the season but the main rd is very close.
The beach resort is lovely, clean and the rooms are clean and can be cleaned daily.
The food is lovely but it’s the same things every night with a very small variation so does get a bit boring by day 5-6.
Pools are very cold apart from one which is heated.
Beach is on the doorstep but you have to pay for the beds and drinks.
If you’re a white wine drinker, find something else, it’s not nice.
Buses to chania are very frequent but very busy so be prepared to wait as they will just drive on.

I am extremely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. It is definitely not a five-star property – at best, it could be rated three stars due to the lack of professionalism among the staff and the overall poor management.

During my stay, I experienced unacceptable behavior from hotel employees, which should never happen in a place that presents itself as a luxury resort. In addition, the food on the buffet was repeatedly mislabeled or not labeled at all, creating a serious risk for guests with food allergies.

Overall, this was a deeply disappointing experience. For the price and the promises of a five-star standard, I expected much more. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who values professionalism, safety, and respect for guests.

We had the most wonderful vacation in years! The hotel is spotless and well-organized, with friendly and attentive staff who made us feel very welcome. Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided every day. The food was excellent – delicious, varied, and plentiful. Even though the hotel had many guests, the restaurant never felt crowded and the service from the waiters was consistently high-quality. The beach was also very clean and peaceful.
Overall, we couldn’t find a single flaw.
A truly wonderful place – highly recommended!

Staff were super friendly and went above and beyond. Hotel was modern, big and had lots of pools. Rooms were clean and fresh. Restraunt for all inclusive was lovely! Views were also great looking onto beach while eating. Would definitely recommend. The only things to improve would be that by 9am all sunbeds was taken. I think staff should go around and remove towels from reserved beds. You could only use the pool bar to get all inclusive drinks. It would’ve been better if you could use the other bars part of all inclusive. Overall great stay and would definitely recommend!

Poorly cleaned rooms, uncomfortable and worn-out mattresses, and a staff member entered my room while I was naked. The resort has no common areas or meeting points, making it impossible for guests to socialize.
The only good thing was the food – tasty and varied.
Overall, it’s not worth the price.

Our first impression of Porto platanias is that it is a lower mid-tier family resort. While the inclusions of play parks, multiple pools, baby beds and a daycare are nice considerations they do not overcome the multiple shortcomings we have noticed in our first few hours here. Our first disappointment was the receptionist who could not be bothered to give us 100% of his attention during check-in; he was on the phone for a third of it, spent another third asking people behind us in line why they were here to see if he could have some "quick win" fixes and ended the check-in by speed running all the instructions of our stay and the resort map. These rushed explanations led to the misunderstanding of where to eat and what was included in the half-baked where the serving staff was much more well-mannered and even offered the two wines we ordered without knowing we would be paying for it. The buffet was well furnished with various options of meats, fish, salads, sides and desserts. Although there are vegetarian options, they are clearly less varied and refined. Time will tell if we get bored of the salad bar within our week long stay. The sea view from the main restaurant is very nice and quite peaceful. So far, the experience is 50/50 but the reason I am making my review so early in my stay is due to something that won't change in our time here, the sub-par room. hile spacious and with a kitchenette, there are many shortcomings and defects that make it seem like a cheap hotel room as opposed to the luxury resort it is trying to be. First thing you notice coming in are two large bright green plastic tabs hanging from under the lounge TV. I can only assume these are mounting guides left there. The kitchen has a cooking corner but the light and exhaust above it don't work. The mini fridge is very hard to open and slides out of place every time. The glass showers do not fully close or the stairs are to work to be efficient leading to spilling and wet floors; also the drain cover is loose and flow is slow resulting in a piece of plastic floating around. The sinks are well furnished with a glass, soap dispenser and various kits (sewing, shaving, tooth care) but there is no room to set your own things down. The furniture is generally dated; the bed lights are noticeably crooked and my end table drawer already fell out of its tray multiple times. Last but not least, while the resort offers many activities, one of them is a mini-disco currently keeping my eldest up as it is quite loud and easily heard from our room. Overall, we expected more for 3000 euros a week. Maybe my review will change by the end of the week if I am able to enjoy other aspects of the resort.

We made a reservation at the Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa. However, upon arrival the Hotel refused to honor our reservation and accommodate us at the hotel. They suggested that our reservation was at the Porto Platanias Village Resort (a much lower rated hotel in same group).

Booking.com responded to our enquiry and confirmed that our reservation was in fact at the 5-star Porto Platanias Beach Resort & Spa as we had said all along. We forwarded all our proofs of the reservation but the the hotel did not accept it and never responded to our messages. We had to stay at the second-rated hotel for the entire stay.

We wanted to stay at a hotel that fronted the beach. We did not even consider (know of) the Village-hotel at the time of making the reservation and therefore would have chosen a completely different hotel had we have known that the hotel would transfer of our reservation from the Beach Resort & Spa to the Village Hotel.

We believe the hotel is directly responsible since they are either grossly negligent in allowing third-party partners to offer rooms at the Beach Resort& Spa and then placing them in the second-rated village hotel. Or alternatively, they are complicit since ultimately they are selling rooms at much higher rates than what one would pay if you were to book directly at the second rated village hotel, that would not have been sold.

Perfect hotel, very friendly staff and we were always feeling velcome. We were travelling with one handicapped child in a wheelchair and the staff always looked after us and were very welcoming. What we expreienced as a bit negative was that even though all signs were saying that reserving sun beds were "illegal" most people did this every day so that if we were to get seats beside the pool before 12 PM, this was impossible even if apparently nobody were there ... We wish some someone would take more care of the security from "reserving" sun beds like the sings said, because nobody apparently cared about this. We want to come back agan, but not if the hotel "lies" about taking care of "stealing" sun beds from the morning, because finding sun beds with a handicapped child who loved the sun is not easy when we dont know which beds are available nor not. :)

Platannias Ariston is one of the best charter hotels we have stayed in. We visited the hotel 2 years ago, and we had to come back. This is a small hotel with only 14 rooms. The service is personal and excellent, rooms are very good with everything you need, you have your own place on the beach and it is just a very short walk before you are in the center of Platannias. All this make your holiday perfect. We met several other guests that were returning guests. It seems that when guests experience this excellent hotel, they return. We will definately come back probably in a 2 years time. We highly recommend this hotel
