Reviews
I would recommend Althea Village to anyone and everyone.
We visited for the second time in back in July for our honeymoon and just wow!
The staff are all super friendly- especially the manager Stavros. He personally came to find us and greet us after taking care of us through email communication in the lead up to our stay. His attention to detail and how he goes above and beyond is honestly unmatched!
The hotel do their best in accommodating any special requests- we asked for a room at the quieter side of the hotel which appeared to be no problem.
They’re also great for catering to all dietary requirements- my husband and I are both vegan and it was such a pleasure to go somewhere with multiple options at each meal time.
If you want alternative milk you only need to ask staff who are more than happy to help.
Rooms are lovely, modern and clean!
The spa is luxurious- I’ve had two massages here and both have been incredible again complimented by the brilliant staff.
Long story short- I would 100% recommend Althea Village for your next stay in Crete! I’m sure we will be back again!
Both families with children and couples will feel right at home here.
Althea Village Hotel is an ideal destination that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and a pleasant holiday experience. We had the pleasure of visiting this hotel in September this year, marking our first trip to the beautiful island of Crete.
The always cheerful, accommodating, and dedicated staff undoubtedly contributes to the overall high rating of this stay.
Furthermore, we appreciate the overall cleanliness of the entire facility. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, including regular towel changes. Moreover, from the early hours, the pools and pathways were well-maintained.
Intimate bungalows surrounded by a breathtaking olive grove and a beautiful, well-maintained garden, are extraordinary elements of this place. In Althea you can literally feel like in Greek village, relaxing in gardens in hammock, feeling the peace and harmony to the surroundings.
This place creates the perfect atmosphere for relaxation and a little bit of excitement. Every day, fans of active recreation had a diverse range of physical activities such as yoga, stretching, water polo, and aqua aerobics, led by a friendly and experienced staff. This provided an ideal opportunity for both entertainment and networking. The hotel also has a modern, well-equipped, and clean gym, located in new hotel area. An additional advantage of the hotel is the offer of massages and spa services – the masseuse offers a free trial massage by the pool, explaining relaxation techniques to help choosing the appropriate massage for those interested.
Furthermore, in the evenings, hotel staff entertained guests with live music and engaging animations for both children and adults.
When it comes to the accommodation, we received a room in the new section, across the street. A spacious room with a view of the pool and mountains, as well as a breathtaking sunset. The room was well-maintained, renovated, with a mini fridge. It is worth noting that on Sundays the staff does not clean the rooms, but this was not a problem for us.
Regarding the food, I think everyone can find something for themselves here. We took an advantage of the all-inclusive offer – we were satisfied with fresh food, local cuisine, variety of desserts and regular theme cuisine evenings. Special praise goes to the extra pita gyros station – a Greek, local delicacy that tasted delightful here. The restaurant was kept clean, with an added advantage of a self-service all-inclusive drinks station (offering water, coffee, tea, beer, or wine). This allowed every guest to enjoy their time without having to wait for service to provide beverages.
The hotel also offers convenient parking facilities, and there was never any problem leaving the car. Additionally, the reception staff was willing to assist with car rental and provide insights for exploring the most captivating places in Crete.
It is worth mentioning the good location of the hotel – close to the beach (just a short 10-minute walk from the beach), hotel situated a few minutes away from the bus stop, and a maximum of 10 minutes to a larger grocery store (Lidl). For those seeking culinary adventures outside the hotel, there is an interesting culinary offer nearby the village.
Sunrises and sunsets in Crete are exceptional, and we warmly recommend everyone to get up early at least once and experience it.
The rooms were lovely and clean, and the surrounding hotel grounds were well-maintained, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The hotel boasts three swimming pools. Across the street, there’s a quieter pool where you can relax in peace, while the main pool area has music and daily activities. There are also evening entertainment programs, making it perfect for guests who enjoy a more lively atmosphere.
The hotel's location is ideal for exploring the island, which has so much to offer. Car rentals are available nearby, usually without the need for a credit card or deposit. There's also a bus stop close by, with regular routes to Chania, which is only 4 kilometers away. We highly recommend visiting the beach at sunset—the view is simply breathtaking.
The food was delicious, and the restaurant was well-presented. The staff were always smiling, friendly, and helpful, making us feel truly taken care of. We're already planning our return to this hotel—it’s the best we’ve stayed in, and we’ve visited quite a few over the years.
Thank you for an unforgettable holiday, and we hope to see you again soon!
The rooms weren't massive, but they were clean and felt private. We weren't disturbed at all during the night like in some hotels as our room was a detached villa with only one room below.
The Wi-Fi was good for a large hotel. The only downside was that the beach was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Once at the beach, there wasn't really anywhere to place ourselves as all the sunbeds belonged to all the hotels that backed onto the beach.
We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again!
