Cactus Hotel in Rhodes Town

Location is great and the breakfast was good. But the room we stayed in had black mould and the shower smelled of mould. We felt sick, sore throats, fever, coughs, and respiratory symptoms, after first day but no help from the hotel. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

I never usually leave reviews, i simply choose not to return to a place and leave it at that. But this time the experience was so poor that I felt I needed to share it

We noticed that several reviews mention poor hospitality at this hotel, and unfortunately we have to agree. Most of the staff seemed uninterested in their work, which already gave a negative impression.

On top of that, we were only about 10–15 minutes late with check-out, something that has never been an issue at any other hotel we’ve stayed at. It wasn’t even during peak time, yet the manager stood outside our room until we came out and then very firmly told us we had to leave. She even waited outside the door as if assuming we wouldn’t check out on our own. The way she spoke and the looks she gave made us feel belittled and very uncomfortable, and we were honestly shocked at how the situation was handled. The way they chose to treat their guests over such a matter speaks volumes about the level of hospitality at this hotel.

This kind of behavior is simply not acceptable and very unproffessional. There are many other hotels that know how to treat their guests with respect, as it should be.

I’ve been visiting Cactus regularly over the past four years, at least for times a year, and always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, things have changed a lot since last year. The small details that made the stay special are gone. No more beach towels, the breakfast has become very basic, and there’s a lack of entertainment. The entire staff has been replaced, and with that, the warm hospitality that once set this place apart is missing. On top of it all, prices have increased significantly without reflecting in the quality or experience offered. Sadly, I won’t be returning.

PS: The new management should rethink their plan.
