Central Hotel 21 and Apartments in Budapest

The hotel was exceptionally cheap at just £125 for three nights. The receptionists were friendly and helpful. Somehow they didn't register in my booking that I am travelling alone so I've got two single duvets instead of one double, which is a shame. There is a strong smell of damp when I enter my room and I found a dead ant in my bedsheets, a long hair on the floor and a pair of sunglasses in a drawer, but aside from these everything seems clean. The extra lock on the inside of the door doesn't work. The wifi works well, and shower gel and a kettle are provided. There is nothing essential missing or lacking. The shower is decent enough. The towel rail is not activated. The decor is a bit brown but it is modern and coordinated and the room is adequately furnished. There's nothing obviously wrong, like cracked floors or dirty grouting. My room is on the ground floor between the outer face of the building and the breakfast hall, so there is quite a lot of street noise, and there is also significant noise from the corridor and adjacent room. I can even hear the person next-door urinating... This is quite disappointing. Plus, the blind doesn't reach the bottom of the window so the streetlights shine in. I would recommend bringing earplugs and an eye-mask. The location is good; it's 5-15 minutes' walk to the nearest public transport options.
