Hotel La Fortezza

We recently stayed at the Hotel la Firenze Italy. The room was so dark with very very low lightening we could not see a thing: Unable to read: put on make up: look over luggage and used our cell phones for light! I understand conserving electricity but come on now! In addition, the room was full of mesquitoes I did ask for the terrace room and expected this insect explosion bit why the dead ones were not remeved from the walls is beyond me! Awful! The lady at the front desk talked so much on her cell phone this was while there were quests waiting to be checked out, not accceptable. We had to carry our luggage up the steps because no one helped with bags. Awful stay never again.

Disgusting hotel with rude reception.

When we first arrived, nobody even offered to help us with our bags. When we got into the room, it was full of mosquitoes, both alive and dead. The walls were covered in several crushed mosquitoes, as well as blood smears from those mosquitoes. The sheets were also dirty.

The room was dark and dingy. It had very few lights, and the lights that were there were very dim. The room was hot, about 80F, but the AC was not turned on, even though their website promises AC. When I went to the reception to ask about the air, they told me to open the window. I would have done that if opening the window didn't let in more mosquitoes. The room had a "wonderful" view over a fire escape that the hotel employees would smoke on.

Any time we left or entered the hotel, nobody ever greeted us, and many times, the reception area was completely empty.

The website also lies about their "king size" bed. It is not a king size bed at all, but rather two twin mattresses pushed together.

The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the included breakfast and the waitress working there. It was simple fare; cakes, yogurts, cereal, etc. but the waitress was so pleasant and helpful it felt like we were in a completely different environment. If everyone there was like her, this place probably would be much better. But as it is, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, and will never go back.
