Reviews
Concierge staff were most helpful. A few stairs to climb in between Lift stops, be prepared !
Besides the shower, another quirk was the elevator/stairs. Because the hotel is in what I assume to be multiple different historic buildings, we couldn't access our room simply by elevator. We took the elevator up to 2 and then had to take a short but steep set of glass stairs into a different building and find our room from there. Like the shower, not a problem for Mom and me, but just something to be aware of. We found this quirk charming and fun. They offered to help us with our bags, which I wish we had taken them up on (we didn't know about the stairs), but no worries! I'm pretty strong and Mom and I got everything squared away.
The breakfast was a nice perk. The eggs tasted more like cottage cheese to me and the bacon didn't look cooked, but hey... free breakfast. The pastry selection was fantastic... their pistachio croissants in particular are so delicious. There were plenty of selections at the small breakfast buffet that should satisfy most. Mom is vegetarian and had no problems with getting enough to eat.
The staff here is phenomenal. Every person we encountered was amazing. We had a tour and needed to store our luggage on the day of check-out and they were very accommodating. If I'm ever in Florence again, I'm definitely staying here again. I really enjoyed this charming hotel.
Don’t hotels have responsibilities to their lone female guests. My daughter came down to reception to check out and I introduced her to the reception lady, she acknowledge her but DID NOT APOLOGISED TO HER OR ACKNOWLEDGED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I felt insulted by response from staff. I said I would complete a review and she said they will respond
The rooms would benefit from renovation but the hotel itself has a history and a nice soul, and the staff conveys a caring atmosphere.
As a radical night owl, I absolutely loved it that tea, coffee, and tasty biscuits were available in the breakfast hall 24/7 for self-service.
And if all people in the service industry were like Signor Massimo at the reception, this world would have been a much nicer place 😊
The service was also very good. They allowed us to leave our luggage both before and after checkout times in their luggage room for free, which was very helpful for us as we were traveling with small kids and we didn't have to haul our luggage as we went for sightseeing. They also have elevators, so you don't have to drag luggage up and down the stairs.
Now the bad part- which is another aspect of the good part (its proximity to main attractions)- the rooms have old style windows that doesn't block any outside noise at all. Maybe this is how it's with all the old buildings but we had a hard time sleeping through the night. They also have construction going on currently (as of April 2025). I don't know if it was that but on our first night we heard a loud noise like a giant motor from around 5-7am! Noise from the streets is also very disturbing for a good night's sleep. But again, its probably due to the old building and it's location.
Again, no complaints on the service. Their team was very helpful with all of our requests. This review is for prospective guests so that they know what are the pros and cons of the property.
