Hotel Paris

I was disappointed overall in this hotel. I read Google and other reviews and looked at photos, and had higher hopes than what the hotel provided. It is a great location, but other than that, it is very lackluster. Nothing has been updated in years, and they still use keys for the doors instead of a key card. We reserved an upgraded room that had a fairly comfortable king-size bed and then a chaise lounge that was plastic with no linens on it. Weird. The room was large but had no personality. The floors had been updated to luxury vinyl plank, but that's where the upgrades ended. The air conditioning worked almost too well. When we arrived it was set at 16 Celsius and we tried adjusting it but ended up just having to turn it off and on to be comfortable. The furnishings were tired and worn. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo that you have to scale the tub wall to get into. There is no anti skid in the tub, so it can be slippery. To flush the toilet, you had to press the button and hold it until it flushed. We talked to another guest who said his toilet flushed only intermittently and that staff was not helpful in fixing. The end tables on the sides of the bed were not bed height but at least 18 inches taller than the bed. Very odd. There is a kettle but no coffee maker in the room. Breakfast was the same every day. The scrambled eggs were ok, but the bacon was barely cooked, and the "sausage" was cut up hot dogs. One of the coffee makers only made half servings. For the price I paid I expected more. Florence is fantastic, and the hotel was the most disappointing part of our six night stay.
