Mercure Palermo Centro

I recently stayed at Mercure and was thoroughly disappointed with my experience. The cleanliness of the room was subpar, with dust and stains present even after housekeeping. Breakfast was very limited with bad taste .To make matters worse, my used coffee mugs were never cleared, and I had to repeatedly request towels and toilet rolls, which should be standard in any hotel. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone.

I stayed with a tour group. As a solo, I got a single room which was fine… except the room smelled awful. I think they must allow smoking in the rooms. Or did once upon a time. The two tiny lifts are pretty useless when everyone needs to leave at the same time. The dinner and breakfast was decent but not amazing. The line for the coffee was long but they hand make it for you so it was worth the wait.

I travel quite a bit and I stayed at various hotels during my stay in Palermo, but this hotel is old and run down, nothing like it is advertised on their website. This is not a 4 star hotel! the carpet smells terrible to the point where it is hard to breathe and sleep in that room, I think the carpet was not cleaned since this hotel opened probably 30-40 years ago. The air conditioning makes a lot of noise, impossible to leave on during the night, the shower also didn’t work properly. The staff is incredibly rude, the key to the hotel kept constantly de-magnetising and not working, despite the fact that the staff knew this was a constant problem in the hotel, they kept acting very annoyed when someone would come to the reception and ask them to fix the key in order to enter the room. The receptionists are the rudest people I’ve ever encountered, speaking between each other, making fun of the clients, zero professionalism. Breakfast terribly average, staff again very rude. I would recommend you pay 20 euros more a night and stay in a nice airbnb over this.

I was so disappointed in the room the only positive thing it can say is it was clean and the air conditioner worked. Our shower was so small with a shower curtain that allowed the water to come out onto the floor causing it to be slippery not to mention the mold that was present. They made a make shift bidet by placing a hand held shower head next to the toilet causing yet more water on the floor. We had a view of the fire escape which was used daily by staff which meant you had to keep your curtains closed at all times making the room seem even smaller. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
