Grand Hotel Capodimonte

We traveled from the US and stayed here Aug 27-Sept 3. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. From the location to the service and staff it was truly exceptional. We stayed in one of the premier rooms with balcony and sea view. We were in walking distance to City Center, beaches, train station and ferry dock. The free breakfast was fabulous every morning. All the staff were very nice and helpful. They took care of arranging a few things we wanted to do from restaurant reservation I could not get...they were able to arrange one. They arranged our tour to Pompeii, scooter ride along the coast and personal driver back to the airport the day we left. We had fresh towels every afternoon. Room service was quick and delightful. 100% recommend staying at this hotel.

This is our 3rd time here at the hotel. Its beautiful and the staff are so lovely on the reception. The hotel is in such a lovely location overlooking Sorrento. Our favourite time is at breakfast when you sit outside overlooking the city and hear it waking up with the hubbub of bikes and car horns below. It is situated on a cliff so a lot of the hotel is on different levels, with 5 pools that cascade into the next. We love coming here as it is a good launch point for reaching the Amalfi Coast and the history surrounding the Vesuvius eruption. The food at the hotel is very well presented.

My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in early September. This is a beautiful hotel with gorgeous views, relaxing pools, comfortable rooms, and yummy breakfast.

Unfortunately, during our stay the electricity went out a couple times in one day. While it was a bit a nuisance, the hotel staff kept us informed and it did not interfere with our stay much at all. We had a massage booked that same afternoon and they were still able to get it done (however, we were not impressed with the massage).

Also, the ceiling above the entrance to our room (inside our room), leaked consistently and every morning the floor was covered in water.

Besides all this, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Sorrento.

A pleasantly situated hotel overlooking the bay and Vesuvius in the background. Rooms a good size and beds very comfortable. Bathrooms could do with modernization as showers still over bath. Breakfast adequate but very repetitive. On the whole though a very nice stay with very welcoming staff. Hotel recommended.

Hotel is very cool, a little dated but adds to the charm. Location is great.. in walking distance to shops and restaurants. Staff were very accommodating of our needs and requests. Breakfast was delicious as was the restaurant by the pool. If you go, you definitely need to try the pizza (pool za)! It was the best we had in Southern Italy. The pool is also incredible with a lot of different levels to swim and lounge by.

The hotel is in a great location. Short walk to restaurants and shops and beach.
The pool has amazing views and is a very relaxing place to be. Visiting in September meant that we had a lot of peace. Service was excellent at breakfast, but there were limited options available for vegetarians.
The room was beautiful, the bathroom was lovely and cleaned/restocked daily.
Patio area unfortunately just faced a wall so the views were limited.

Bathroom hairdryer was old and weak - could be updated.

Reception staff were very helpful - organizing meal reservations and recommendations.

A top hotel, in a top location (5 minutes from the town), with such lovely staff.
All the facilities you could want, bars (reasonable prices), pools, restaurants, gym, massage services. Well maintained in a classic style with fantastic views.

Overall our stay was pretty good. The pool area is stunning with a great view of the sea of Sorrento. We also had a balcony over the garden area, which was very beautiful and a large room compared to the other hotels during our time in Italy. The only reasons I'm giving 4 stars is that I felt the rooms could have been cleaner and needed a bit of updating. Floors, tub, etc appeared to be yellowing and didn't seem as pristine as the rest of our hotels during our trip. Also the room was kept very cold and there were only some light blankets in the closet, so I was personally pretty cold at night. Lastly, the pool was only open until 7pm, which seemed very early to me, since I would expect to be exploring the city during the day, and only stopping at the pool after dinner. It was still a nice stay though - these are just some areas for improvement.

We had wonderful service. The team was very welcoming and helpful. The view is worth it as well as the restaurant.
