Happy 3

The main thing I'll say about this hotel is don't expect the usual warm welcome or hospitality you get from most hotels in Asia. We called in on the way home from Vietnam, read the reviews so we went in slightly aware. When you arrive it's 2 people at a desk no warm welcome, they'll process your payment then ask for a 1000 deposit for damages or incidentals with a list of rules etc, they wont even leave their chair. During our stay we witnessed several people checking out getting told there was damage in the room and missing spoons etc, there was a gust taking someone not checked into the hotel to his room, they stopped him and were trying to get them to take another room. I'd say this must be normal as when the guest started questioning them, the doorman quickly stood ready to intervine. I would strongly reccomend you take a detailed video of your room when you arrive and when you leave. The pool area was nice but you will be smashed by mosquito bites. If you're unfortunate enough to have breakfast included allow 2 hours. Ironically you have to request what you want with a time the prior day, on the day you'll arrive in the restaurant at your designated time, then you have to inform reception you're there, as no one will come to serve you. They will then commence cooking your meal, not in the commercial kitchen but the tiny Cafe area in reception. Undoubtedly it'll be wrong, half cooked, mostly cold and missing condiments.
We bought the upgrade to the larger room which was actually good, weirdly there's a microwave and kettle, but they do not allow any food to be brought into the rooms.
I would strongly say buyer beware, the location is good, there's the usual hustlers on the street. Just don't expect anything memorable from a nice perspective, dont expect them to be of any help at all, they even took our details when we borrowed a pen.

Positives:
Great location - short walk to MBK. Room layout was nice with a lounge room, 2 TVs and big bathroom.
Negatives:
1. We had breakfast included in which we had to choose the night before between American or English. Every night they made us pick a time we wanted to have breakfast but when we came down in the mornings they hadn’t even started cooking. Most mornings it was 45 minutes before we would eat after our allocated time and once 1 hour and 15 minutes and the order was wrong despite there only being us and one other family in the restaurant.
2. We were told we were not allowed to eat in our rooms even though they had a kitchenette with microwave.. what’s the point?
3. I’ve seen other reviews that they pin damages and theft on customers, this didn’t happen to us but we witnessed it at least twice with the customer at the front desk being very confused when asked to pay 400 baht for 2 teaspoons they didn’t use. Put a dampener on our stay as we were constantly on edge we were going to be blamed for something on checkout.
4. Pool is freezing and we had mosquitos on our face when swimming. Could not sit and relax around it, they need to invest in some repellant.
5. Too many rules, you have to sign this waver with a list of things you’re not allowed to do during your stay and place a deposit of 1000 baht which we weren’t aware of.
We had to stay in Bangkok an extra night and are now relaxing enjoying a different hotel room, much better value for money at other places!

Extremely disappointed with the hotel service and staff. When we were checking out, we were told that 2 spoons were missing from our room which confused us because we didn’t use the spoons in the room at all during our stay. We explained that the housekeeper might have forgotten to return it when she cleaned the day before as we were sure that we didn’t use it. The receptionist was quite rude and unhelpful with our situation as we explained that why would we steal the hotel spoons from our room. They made us pay 400 baht for the missing spoons we did not even use. Would not recommend.
