The wifi is the only thing what is not the best in here, but I think we could survive it ;)
We arrived at 12 30 am in the morning and were greeted by a lovely man who took us to our room (302).
The room was nice with a balcony, hob and kettle and bathroom with shower. Cleaning was done at least 2/3 times during our 4 day stay and sheets were changed. AC was available in our room and overall had a good experience.
There was buffet style food and lots of variety each time of day.
There was a private beach with free sunbeds and umbrellas that was 5 minute walk away.
Unfortunately we got into a car accident at our stay at the hotel and the personnel were kind enough to give us plasters, bandages and antiseptics as well as directing us to the nearest pharmacies and offering to help if we needed it. They also went out of their way to help others at the hotel who were injured.
The only downside to this place was the distance away from the airport, it took us roughly 3 hours to get to the hotel in traffic conditions. Overall, the hotel is a picturesque and homely environment which we thoroughly enjoyed.
It also is surrounded by markets, food shops and supermarkets so it’s really convenient
The staff stand out, always working hard and cheerful. Jan on reception was our go to for anything we needed as was helpful, amicable, informative and had perfect English and cared about his guests. Would stay again.
The double room we booked was instead 3 single beds. A very strong bleach smell with a musky undercurrent with several surfaces not cleaned thoroughly. The bathroom was reasonably clean but again not thoroughly. Very tired and worn looking with a tiny half-balcony accessible through a door that didn't lock and instead relied on a flimsy chain. There was a fridge, grubby sink and grubbier kettle but no cups or spoons to make a drink. A few pots and pans which seemed odd as there were no cooking facilities and indeed no plates or bowls to eat off anyway. The single concession to comfort was a couple of sachets of Nescafe/CoffeeMate and two paper cups. Stay classy Bora Bora.
All 3 single beds had bedsheets which had definitely been through a few boil washes. The mattresses provided little in the way of comfort with springs easily felt through the flimsy fabric. Fortunately the weather was hot so the single thin sheet was enough so we didn't have to chance the slightly thicker blankets in the closet that felt rather rough and smelled like they'd been in a slightly damp suitcase for a few months.
After an iffy nights sleep (Dawn call to prayer and the busy road very audible through the thin glazing) a good breakfast can still make things better. Unfortunately Bora Bora breakfasts are very limited and not especially tasty. The coffee machine makes a surprisingly good drink though, the big vat of tea is fair but the fluid that comes out of the juice machine is foul to a degree that you suspect there's something dead floating around in there. If you want something as luxurious as a glass of fresh orange juice you have to pay extra....at this 'all inclusive' hotel.
Still, make the best of it and the pool area was actually fairly decent. Plenty of loungers, nice pool and the bar was nearby. Relax, lay back in the sun and then grab an all inclusive drink. Unfortunately the all inclusive drinks consisted of the worlds gassiest lager, cheap vodka miniatures, vinegar infused wine and pretty much nothing else. It seemed to be served in a variety of plastic cups none of which were more than 1/3 of a pint. This left you with a choice of constant trips to the bar every 3 burp ridden mouthfuls of lager or ridiculously strong vodka with too little space in the cup to sufficiently dilute with mixer.
You could instead try the cocktails but again...this all inclusive charges for them at a price a little more expensive than many bars in the area.
Lunch and dinner were better than breakfast but varied in consistency. Plenty of fresh fruit/veg to pick from but the mains were a mixed bag with often embarrassed looking cooks avoiding eye contact with the disappointed looking hotel guests. It was a bit disconcerting to see guests throw a little food to the various stray cats only for the cats to take a sniff and think better of it.
Come night time and the combination of average food, poor drinks and zero entertainment makes it clear that the management of this hotel want you to go elsewhere and stop denting their profits. Trouble is that it's in a quiet part of town a taxi ride away from anywhere lively.
A hotel in a more remote location should really give a bit more value for money than a centrally located hotel. And an 'All Inclusive' shouldn't be so obviously begrudging of being all inclusive. Bora Bora Butik massively fails to do that.
The staff seem to work hard enough but aren't massively friendly. Not surprising given the hours they seem to be put through. There are language barriers which are understandable but as the hotel advertises speaking several languages it's another failing.
After what felt like a life time of a journey! we finally arrived at Bora Bora Butik Hotel when I entered all you could smell was cigarettes, the hotel did not smell clean at all. We then was shown our room to which was absolutely disgusting! Very out dated! Dirty! Damp! The smell of the bedroom was awful too, almost felt I was sleeping in a shed/ prison cell (we had the ground floor room) The pool area was dirty and when trying to sunbathe flys were on you and again very basic. The food is absolutely disgusting and not much variety at all!! They do not cater for English people nor do they cater for dietary needs. I was very disheartened when arriving because you just don’t expect this when coming on holiday. The staff were very rude, the drinks were limited only soft drinks and beer was all inclusive, the outside of the hotel was also dirty and had dangerously busy roads. They don’t clean your room unless you tip them. We only stayed here for one night and moved hotels immediately! so I strongly advice people thinking to book this place please don’t especially if your British.
