Amber Hotel & Spa

Definitely not a 4 stars! Rooms are not what advertised- smaller, TV didn’t work. Beddings weren’t changed, just towels! They only tidied up the bed- and replaced 2 complimentary bottles of water! Breakfast wasn’t very hot- scrambled eggs were always cold! No fresh juice, coffee from the machine tested awful, but when asked for Turkish coffee- had to pay 100 liras per cup. The staff although in the breakfast area was very helpful,polite and nice, especially Karina! The reception staff gave our room to someone else on our arrival and we had to sleep first night in the room next to reception on the ground floor where no windows with natural light, curtains were falling off and all night you can hear receptionists talking, doors banging etc! Location was ok for the old city, but to get to the tram towards the Sultan Ahmed square we’d to climb very steep street- so for those who have mobility issues is not very helpful!

Fantastically friendly staff, rooms are a little dark and small, not great views. However refreshing that they are cleaned every day. Big range of breakfast options but the same options everyday. Very repetitive

+ - Location is fine. - Nice friendly staff. - The view from the upper porch is ok.
- - Too small room, worn-out furniture and equipment in the bathroom. - Bad soundproofing of the rooms, you constantly hear people walking and talking behind the walls. - Breakfast is poor and tasteless.

Nice hotel that could receive much better valuation if some basic maintenance was done in rooms. Bed was excellent but there were many details that should have been fixed ages ago like curtains that were hanging only partially, shower that was leaking all over, light bulbs that were missing, hair dryer that wasn't working, etc. However I still recommend this hotel due it's great location and more importantly due the wonderful friendly staff.
