Reviews
The hotel rooms do not look 5 stars. There is a boiler in the bathroom in the year 2025.
In conclusion the hotel is overrated in terms of number of stars and the behavior of the reception staff leaves much to be desired
During my stay in June 2025, I accidentally damaged a decorative water installation near the reception. I apologized and paid the full amount requested by the hotel – 700 BGN.
The incident was captured on the hotel’s CCTV. I requested access to the video footage, as I am clearly identifiable in it – which makes it my personal data under the GDPR. However, the hotel refused to provide the footage, claiming they only send it to third parties like insurance companies.
Despite several polite requests and reminders, I received no proper response. The hotel ignored me and hid behind so-called “internal policy” – which does not override EU law or the Bulgarian Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP).
I have now filed an official complaint with the CPDP. I believe guests deserve respectful treatment and their legal rights to be acknowledged, not ignored.
Very disappointing attitude from what is supposed to be a professional establishment.
I have booked my spa treatment-to be exact hamam and massage, as they call full package. Both hamam and massage were a complete disappointment and I'd say a disaster.
For starters, the hamam table had a soap particle stuck to it and a plastic bag was underneath the head rest ( it's not for an individual use, everybody is using it) the hamam lady said it was sanitized. Considering soap and plastic bag from someone's disposable underwear it wasn't.
Then hamam itself made me feel inadequate- she didn't test water and showered me in cold water first, then decided to wash my hair without prior consulting me about the kind of products I use - i need a conditioner. I felt like she'll drown me in water and soap suds.
I was praying and hoping I'll get a different masseuse but alas. She turned out to be a masseuse too. Just as bad as the hamam. She started with my thighs went down to my feet, up to my hands, for a few seconds my traps then randomly lower back then top of my back and my neck didn't get any attention whatsoever. It felt as if she couldn't make up her mind what she was trying to massage.
The whole thing lasted 1 hour and it definitely was not worth the money.
Cleanliness is also an issue-glass shower door in the woman's changing room was covered in soap scum and black mold.
The staff were outstanding— friendly, professional, and always willing to help. They made me feel truly welcome throughout my time there. My room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and really comfortable, with everything I needed already in place.
One of the highlights for me was the on-site restaurant. The food was consistently delicious, whether I was grabbing breakfast or enjoying dinner. And after a day out exploring, I treated myself to a spa session—which I highly recommend. As a resident you receive a 10% discount for all spa treatments. The massage and facial I had were absolutely wonderful and left me feeling completely relaxed.
The location is also ideal—super close to the beach, shops, and local spots. Everything I needed was just a short walk away, which made things really easy and stress-free. I would also recommend the local bus services which travel from the Old town Nessebar down to sunny beach. Cost was 2 BG leve (€ 1 ) and run every 15 minutes.
With an evening flight home , my bags, at no additional charge, were safely secured in a room at the hotel from my 12pm check out time.
Overall, my stay at Galeon was exceptional. I’d rate the whole experience a solid 10/10 and would absolutely come back. Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing and memorable time in Sunny Beach.
There were some minor inconveniences like some stuff around the rooms being broken or people leaving towels to take up the sunbeds around the pool. The parking is expensive and the fitness is disappointing. It's close to the beach, but it's really far away from the main attractions in Sunny Beach.
Still the overall experience was pretty nice and I loved it.
Nice comfy and big rooms, great everyday service, helpful and kind administration team.
Perfect location, quite silent, short walk to the beach, full of shops and services. AC in the room, but surprisingly we didn't need to use it despite >30C outside. Ok, might see some small breaks on the wall and really a small bit of smell, but if you don't require perfect Western European 5* standard, you will not notice.
(surprisingly it's a 301 room as other, very judgmental commenter also, seems the issues are fixed already!)
Restaurant is very good - tasty food, very big amount of places to sit and really reasonable prices, especially for daily offer. Also waitress service is nice and always in the place. Breakfasts are repeatable as some already said, but amount of things to choose is enough to change even every day during a week stay. And very tasty for me :) what I didn't like is people smoking everywhere. They sit outside usually but it's all covered by common roof so smoke spreads easilly. But it's a common problem in Bulgaria unfortunately. At least this smoke stinks not as bad as I felt sometimes in central Europe..
Nice and very clean swimming pool, cleaned every day very carefully. And surprisingly not many people in the end of August (most prefer the sea, as me :)
Last but not least, as I'm disabled person, i got a comfortable room, close to an elevator and with helpful adjustments in the bathroom.
I really can recommend this hotel, thank you!
The rooms are large but the cheap-looking furniture is overdue for replacement - the mattress and pillows were lumpy and and the couch was torn.
The breakfast is very bland. Thank goodness the cut fruit, meat and cheeses were replenished frequently as flies hovered. The whole fruits at the breakfast buffet were damaged or rotting every day during our 3 day stay - I don't understand why these items weren't just thrown out.
Each guest is provided with a maximum of 1 pool towel per day.
There are no clothes washing facilities, both the kitchen and bathroom basins are very shallow which makes rinsing your swimmers a challenge and the one laundromat in town is located 30 minutes walk from the hotel.
Parking is an additional $B20 per day.
The hotel is conveniently located to the beach - however lots of other hotels offer the same convenience. Some hotels provide free deck chairs on the beach to justify premium pricing.
The playground and outdoor pool is a great for families with kids but no-one used the indoor spa or pool facilities as they were so small.
