Classik Hotel Alexander Plaza

Really didn't have a great experience here. The location and finding the place was fine, it's a nice place to be. Check-in was extremely difficult as my partner was already checked in and had left me a room key in the morning but when I arrived in the evening a different staff never wouldn't let me in - even with same surname, same room number and his permission left earlier in the day. Even before this she was unpleasant and not really professional. So I wasted my first night in Berlin waiting for him to come back to allow me entry. The room itself was small but ok. The shower leaked so we needed a new towel every day to deal with the bathroom floor. The bed was nice. The coffee machine in the room was a nice touch. When it was time to check out, the elevator had lost power but there was no signage or warning or anything. Staff were nice enough about helping us down five flights of stairs with our luggage but it would have been nice not to waste time trying to figure out that solution - why collect all our contact details if you're not going to contact us over something like that? So it wasn't terrible but I wouldn't stay there again.

Very disappointed about this hotel experience, not worth the money and the service is not anywhere close to 4 stars. Service is basically inexistent, the front desk personnel is rude and arrogant if any questions are asked. All you see when you arrive is two digital check-in stations with instructions, no people, no welcome or any human interaction. There was a guy sitting at a desk in the corner and mumbling something, but he clearly showed no interest in assisting. Check-in has to be done by guests on tablets, with zero assistance, including programming the key. I have experienced that before in 2-star hotels which are significantly cheaper and the low level of service is part of the concept. But it’s not acceptable when I pay almost EUR 200 per night! Same at check-out, again zero service and nobody even around.
The room itself was nice but the bathroom too small. No amenities such as slippers. The worst part is that rooms are not soundproof. I could hear and follow the entire conversation in the next room, starting before 6am!
Breakfast was okay with some nice options, but also massively overpriced.
Overall I can say that this was definitely my first and last stay at this hotel. Highly recommend staying elsewhere, there are way better options for this price in the area.
