IntercityHotel Ostbahnhof

The hotel is located above Berlin Ostahnhof (East Berlin station), which has a number of takeaway eateries, pharmacy and a couple of supermarkets for convenience. It is however not within walking distance to some of the key attractions such as Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie etc and there is no close-by metro station. The room we stayed in had a lingering cigarette smell and the carpet is quite dated. Otherwise, everything was clean and had what you need.

Stayed for a business trip with a colleague. My company booked us a twin room (2 separate beds), and the bed arrangement was explicitly communicated and agreed upon through email.

When we checked in we were given a double room (1 big bed). We talked to the reception and they pulled a lot of cheap tricks on us. At first they asked if we have used the room, and if we did, they saw that as an excuse to not “change the room for us”.

And then they insisted we have booked a double room. When confronted by me with the emails, they first told me they were fully booked and couldn’t “change the room for us”.

I told them it’s not me requesting a change, but that they gave me a room that didn’t match what was agreed upon. They ignored me and made me wait at the reception while they moved on to serving other guests.

In the end they gave us a twin room. The whole ordeal took an hour and that’s the last thing you’d want on a business trip when you have appointments planned.

Location was convenient. The room was simple. The electric fan was pretty dusty. None of this matter tho. The way they dealt with the room issue is a deal breaker for me.
