Upper Room Hotel Kurfürstendamm

The hotel is clean but very run-down, with everything showing a lot of wear. Even the stairs are covered in duct tape.
Fair enough for the low price.
However, he real deal breaker is the staff, which is quite rude and invasive, especially the breakfast staff, which will do everything they can to get in your way and then snap at you.
A shame because it does have a great location and potential.
Not recommended.

Stayed there for two nights with my younger brothers class during a school trip from 3. to 5 october, 2024.
When we got there we were informed that we were two rooms short because the hotel had completely disregarded the room list we had sent them in advance, and instead created new rooms with boys and girls mixed, as well as children and adults together. This resulted in around 50 teenagers and adults standing outside in the cold for almost 2 hours before we were able to resolve the problem ourselves so we could get inside. You only get one card per room, so if you need to get inside your room, you should have the one responsible for taking care of the card nearby.
We were all divided across five different levels, making it almost impossible for us adults to keep an eye on the teenagers on the three first levels, as the lobby is on the 4th floor and the levels under are only accessible to those with cards to rooms on those specific floors. To get to the fifth level, where we had a few rooms with some of our kids, we had to walk up a spiral staircase that made it almost impossible to carry large bags up, and the elevator only reached the fourth floor (though one has to walk up a flight of stairs to reach the rather cramped lift). The rooms all vary in size and comfort, there was no air conditioning and the rooms were all unbearably warm, something our teenagers came to complain about. The building is old and while the vintage decor looks cool, the place is definitely in need of a renovation. The hotel is not the best place to bring underage teenagers, as it is surrounded by pubs. Upon leaving, we discovered that the hotel is infected with bedbugs, some of us were covered in bites from head to toe.
Would not recommend this hotel.
