XII Apostel Hotel Albergo
Koln, Heumarkt 68-72 🧭 Map
Loved the location, cleanliness of the room and staff.
Didn't like the condition of the stairs and landings.
OK, but overpriced
Check in experience was very poor, automated machine. Room was clean, bathroom was updated and nice.
However I find it very poor to spent > EUR 200/night to have no TV channels available and no heating a bit overpriced
Great location with some updates
The hotel is in a great location for the Christmas markets. It's above a restaurant, which is where breakfast is served. Our room has a magnificent view of the market, and it had an updated bathroom. The bed and linens were comfortable and pristine. The hotel overall feels a little dated, but part of that is the sparse decoration. I needed ice for a cooler which the...

Great stay right in the center of town
Service was awesome, I would stay again
Basic, no frills, good location
Very basic hotel. No amenities in room. Bathroom was nice, but no extra blanket or pillows. Entrance is strange - through the outdoor restaurant seating. Door is locked until a waiter sees you and lets you in, until after you get your key. Then you’re at a self-service check-in. It works, but it’s very impersonal. Room was clean but hallways and stairs were dirty.
Good hotel for a brief stay. The hotel itself in on 2-4ths floors of the building; the first floor is a very busy restaurant...
Great things:
- they let me check in early
- despite having the restaurant of the first floor, the rooms are quiet...
Areas for improvement:
- no air conditioning/thermostate in the rooms; I needed to keep the windows open to lower the room temp
- stair case is carpeted,...

It’s my second Tante Alma stay and first in this location. I appreciate the elaborate concept and its consistency across all their houses. It might not be everybody’s cup of tea but it works for me.
Comfy mattress, pillow could be better (and smaller), but hey - for this price, all good! Also a fridge in the room is a plus, but sadly a kettle was missing.
Location couldn’t be more perfect, very central...
Loved it, the hotel is in a great location, the room was clean and the bathroom well equipped with both a shower and bath. There was a bank, kiosks and plenty of bars and cafes nearby. Would definitely return to this very quirky and homely hotel.
Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean, great location.
Had a great weekend stay at this well located small hotel. Staff were helpful and we were given great advice, directions and local knowledge at reception on how to get the most out of our short stay in the city. Lots of interesting places to eat nearby, and just a 20 minute stroll through the town centre to the Cathedral. The hotel has a deliberate...
The room was fine, it’s clean and we had a bathtub which was nice. Unfortunately there were a couple of things we didn’t like. The breakfast serves only sweet things. I would definitely skip on it. There is no cheese or ham or anything like that. The reason? They said it was because of Corona. Well we have been to other hotels during Corona and this was never any issue before. Also I had a blister...
Very friendly staff, decent rooms, and a yummy breakfast buffet. My view from my room on the 4th Floor was beautiful. It was very close to all my destinations, too. Will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Köln.
Central location is what matters most. And you can't complain about anything else. Truly decent place to stay for the price they ask.

Great location, friendly staff and clean room! Couldn’t ask for more :)
Conveniently located near Barbarossa Platz tram lines. 4 stop from the Central Station. Room was compact but modern and well appointed. Funky abd pleasant lobby. I was able to park my bike in the secured garage.
Nice Hotel right next to public transport directly at Barbarossaplatz. Great location for bars and restaurants. Good proximity to University.
Third stay in a row within a month, and satisfied. The only little thing I have to mention this time is that the sink in the bathroom was super tiny. I never had this issue with the other rooms I have stayed on before. Other than that, everything was great. The staff is super friendly and helpful.
This has become my go to property in Cologne for my weekly business trips in November. From the friendly staff at check-in to clean rooms and comfortable beds, it has it all. And, you walk outside and have many dining options as well as grocery stores to choose from. I can only recommend.
The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. My room was clean, and the bed comfortable (although the mattress was almost too soft for my liking).
You have a local subway/tram station right outside the hotel as well as several restaurant and grocery store options.
I would stay here again.

An okay place
I suppose it was a mistake to arrive on a Sunday night when there was no one on reception. I had had to used a push button to talk to someone and then negotiate an electronic key, trice, with suitcases. I then entered a lobby with no signs. I found the lift and the room, eventually, but it soured my view of the hotel from the off. The staff were lovely... when they were there. There is...
Great location, staff and accommodation - and breakfast. Excellent value for money
The room was very clean, the bed was not too big, about the same size as a dormitory bed, and it was quite unexpected to have a small balcony. Not happy with catching a flight in the morning, when checking out the front desk said we had a room that was not paid for, and the communication took a long time. The room fee is paid before check-in, and it is ridiculous to ask for payment when checking out
The beds!
The hotel was nice and in a quiet part of what looks like a business area, there are shops and cafes nearby and the station at Hansaring is only a 10 min walk, walking to the old town was 25mins and straight forward.
The room was nice (Suite) and nice views. The only thing that let the room down were the beds, two singles together that don’t lock and single duvets! A bit of research shows...

I appreciate for the dedicated EV charger, 22kW 2 stands, for fee but parking is free.

It was a bit hard to find but the rooms were clean and looked good. The staff was exceptionally friendly. At check-in they even opened the terrace just for me. Overslept my check-out by half an hour and they made no problem of it, charged me nothing extra. "You partied a bit to hard it happens, no problem" . Great people, will go there again next time.
Property situated very close to Subway. We were surprised that they have Fee $.50 for early check in. And for baggage storage $.5 as never experienced any such charges. Room sizes were very compromising two luggage bags and no space to walk. Lobby is nice as usually in same vicinity usually lobby is not that nice. Over all good experience.
This is a huge hotel in a great location, Penn Station across the street. The hotel has been remodeled but still has a lot of art deco features that appeal to travelers like myself. We had a very large room on a high floor that was very quiet and had a great view. The hotel is very busy, but hey it’s NYC. Would definitely stay here again.
This was a nice clean hotel. There was a guy on the front desk who was an absolute gem. He was funny, helpful and knowledgeable and helped us enormously - a credit to the hotel. The room we had was spacious and clean, we got 2 extra pillows as the ones supplied where very thin. On the downside the hotel is in a very scruffy, run down area. I can only assume it was build to service the convention centre...
Mohammed was superb at taking care of us at the front desk. He went above and beyond in meeting our needs. He call us in our room within the hour to check on us to make sure all was good with our room
Staff was courteous and willing to speak my language. Hotel was clean and creative. Breakfast buffet was great. Quick and easy check-in and check-out.

Position in the city. Very polite reception. Very good breakfast.
i didn't like here couse service was bad receptionist ( especially black hair girl ) behaviours was bad and very rude..The good thing is hotel's position.( in the middle of the center) that's all :((
The hotel glory days are behind it but we had a pleasant stay. The staff in friendly and speaks English. The rooms are rather small and a double bed consists of 2x90cm beds next to each other. Breakfast is nice.
Small room for 3 people, but clean. Staff not overly friendly, but excellent breakfast buffet and not that expensive.
4 for good breakfasts. The place is ok, but the reseption does not work regulary.
A very old place, rooms rather small, atrocious WiFi, fairly good breakfast. Central location so easy to get to and easy to find restaurants and such like. Overall very decent for overnight stays, but I'd find somewhere nicer for longer stays.

Lovely one night stay no issues at all with the property or staff/service.
Unfortunately, the hotel didn't live up to the expectations raised by the online pictures. The rooms were significantly smaller than expected, and the furnishings seemed old and worn. Overall, the hotel seems in need of renovation and, in my opinion, certainly doesn't meet the standards of a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, the value for money isn't there.
Very well-located hotel. 2 metro stops from the central train station and the Dom. The room was very clean and quiet.
Very good breakfast and friendly staff.
This is not a 4-star hotel.
This is not a 4-star hotel - maybe 3 om a good day. Hotel is old but kept in fair condition. The service was questionable, and the breakfast is at best 2 stars. You can do a lot better than this for the price!
The hotel is very well located and clean. The only problem is that it's closed on Sundays, so I couldn't leave my bags there.
This is the smallest room , hotel is very old , to reach the room i cross from one building to another though stairs only , noisy neighbourhood .

Nice comfortable small hotel. Ideal if you want to stay in Cologne for a few nights and dont want to pay millions.
Great location and it’s very clean. Staff comes into your room every day to clean and exchange bedding, towels and trash. Breakfast is not the typical buffet I expected but there’s still a couple of options you can choose from including fresh tea or coffee, sandwhiches, eggs, cake, yoghurts...
Fairly basic room just off the main shopping area and about 10 mins from cathedral customer service excellent, though WiFi non existent in our room. Breakfast good.
Comfortable beds and very nice view from the 4th floor, the breakfast room is also very pretty and well arranged. Shower clogged a lot, though.

Decent rooms with ok beds and super nice TV interface. The shower is uncovered for a portion so water is going to get into the bathroom and it would be nice to have more towels available. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel is 15 minutes drive from the city center. It is in a very safe area and has its own parking lot. There is no greeter or reception when you enter the hotel. I loved the modern design of the hotel ❤️. Room, rooftop, and area were nice, but service and check-in, check-out was somewhat disappointing.
1. Check-In would take too long with a robot in a place with no air conditioning, and it was warm as hell!

Decent price for this kind of hotel, clean rooms, efficient service, big bathrooms, soft beds, gets a bit hot in the summer. The hotel has a kitchen and washing areas, so that provides some advantages against other places for longer visits, i recommend registering on their site for a better register process
Walking distance from the train station so very conveniently located and not too far to drag our luggage. It was quirky in that there were no keys you had to input your last name into a kiosk and then it gave you a code for the front door and a different one for your room. We were on the fourth floor. No elevator and a curved staircase. No front desk. Breakfast not included but lots of restaurants...
Centrally located which was great for getting to all the tourist places but so noisy as everyone makes they’re way around. A lot of street dwellers contribute to this, by playing loud music! This place is self check in, so if your not confident with your IT skills and prefer to engage with a human, this may not be the place for you. There’s no early check in or bag drop, we had to use the lockers...
The place was pretty neat to live in. The room was mostly clean, the bed was also decent. Most of the sights are located not too far from the hotel. There are also many restaurants in the vicinity. The view from our room was pretty average for a city.
I stayed with a partner during a weekend in the easter holidays. The "automatic check in" allows for you to automatically check in after 3pm. However, i would recommend not trying that before 3:30pm because of the queue that formed in front of smarty hotel. As the name implies, it is a hostel. No lifts within the building. Room was very basic and only had one hanger for clothes. Prices were steep due to competing conventions.
At least A&O is a major chain and the staff were pleasant. Otherwise it’s very no frills so at a cheap price, it’s worth a stay. Will return if there are no other options.
Location of hotel is quite near to Cologne Central Station. The hotel is abit old and there is no elevator available. We had to struggle to carry our heavy luggage all the way to 3rd level which is very tough. Room is big but no air con.
Since it's the oldest a&o in Cologne, the furnishings are a bit dated, and there's no elevator, making it difficult to transport large suitcases to the upper floors. However, there's a locked luggage room on the ground floor, which is extremely convenient. Drinks are available around the clock, and the pancake machine at the breakfast buffet is great. What we liked best, though, was Berk's friendly...
When I checked in that evening, the front desk guy, Berk, was warm and helpful. I didn't like the first floor, so he moved me to a high floor with a great view. He also pointed me to free hot water, ice water, and coffee. This completely changed my negative impression of A&O.

Same Manager with the hotel Domstein. Very convenient
A somewhat dated hotel in a great downtown location. Relatively small rooms. A very generous breakfast buffet. Attentive service. Ideal for a city trip.

It's just a decent hotel for a one-night stay.
The bedding is clean and comfortable, and the space is quite spacious, so it's convenient.
I was a little worried about this hotel after reading the reviews at first, but I put up with it because it's relatively cheap for a single room. Of course, it's a bit noisy when sleeping near the roadside, and the soundproofing is average (you can hear noises in the corridor). The bed is still a little unclean...

The architecture of the hotel is stunning that flows through the interior of this building. Set in a quiet square nestled just a ten minute walk from the centre of cologne.
The staff was amazing, extremely helpful and kind! Very clean and spacious room, and the building is gorgeous!
Beautiful property. Great staff, particularly in the morning dining room. Quiet tranquil location. Highly recommend this hotel. La Fonda nextdoor excellent restaurant.
The guest I booked for enjoyed staying at QVEST but would noted that it would have been very helpful to know in advance that the room does not come equipped with an air conditioning unit.

Cute little hotel very close to the Köln Hbf. We had a double room with a private bath, and it was just what we needed - cozy, well-maintained, and a comfy bed. As for the wi-fi, well, you get what you pay for - it was slow and the signal was inconsistent. Ended up just using cell data to map out our route for the day. Since that was the worst thing that happened, I'd say it was a great stay!
The facade of the hotel already looks nice, and it absolutely keeps its promises. Both receptionists I met were very nice and helpful. I loved that one has to ring the doorbell to be let in as it made me feel safe.
My room and bathroom were absolutely spotless. A hairdryer, tissues and even slippers were provided in the room, it had a desk, chair, and even a nice, second chair to relax.

Location Good & if can have air conditioning will better
Unfortunately, I can't recommend this hotel. Our room smelled so strongly of musty mold that it was almost unbearable. The window was completely blind, and the edge of the bed was dirty. There were no electrical outlets by the bed. Only the bathroom was OK; it seemed newly renovated.
Although this is a three-star hotel, the sheets and duvet covers were clean, and the room was square and comfortable. The abundance of lights—ceiling, wall, and table lamps—made the room bright. The hotel is inn quality, just the location is close to the train station this is worth considering for a stay.
